Where it all began. When I took a step back and looked at all of our numbers yesterday and updated all my forecasting for the rest of the year, it was one of those moments that really hit me over the head with how far we have come. While many of you have discovered our wines more recently, some of you know that this little building was our first tasting room. It stood where our tasting room is today. Our Wine Club started with people picking up wines from my parents garage in... 2010. Sometimes it’s easy to look at brands and social media and think that success must be instant. Let me tell you, nothing in the wine industry happens over night. It’s hustle. It’s hard work. It’s sacrifice. But it makes those moments when you realize what has been achieved so damn special. Safe to say I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who had walked through our door, whether is was the door to the shack, that garage door or the beautiful glass one at our current tasting room. It is our great pleasure to announce that our 2017 Red Icon has been included in Decanter's January 2021 edition as a "Wine of the Year," the only Canadian wine to be selected. Decanter asked their experts from around the world, and the Decanter team, to nominate wines that impressed them most in 2020. The trio of judges, including Andy Howard MW, Ronan Sayburn, MS and Beth Willard, blind-tasted the wines and the results have now been revealed. When discussing which wines pi...qued their interest, Willard said "I wasreally excited by the Canadian Merlot blend - an outstanding red with great elegance and intensity." It was our honour to be nominated by Decanter's Sonja van Pragg who had this to say about our wine: "A rich wine displaying lots of fruit and intensity, but with an underlying elegance. The nose is very pretty, revealing attractive raspberry and other red fruits, while the palate is quite plummy with a touch of mint, red pepper and black pepper spice on the finish." This fall WineAlign decided to put together their Guide to Canada’s Best Wines because they hadn’t been able to have their annual National Wine Awards in June. As many of you know, our Chardonnay, Rose and Cabernet Sauvignon were already sold out. We decided we would submit four wines for consideration: our Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Red Icon.
