# 160 SETTING THE SCENE The antique wind vane with a sunset of orange clouds dominating the sky is reminiscent of the past but also a nod to the future. The mighty wind turbines, whirligigs in our backyards and the ones on a stick for children are all built on the same principle. Something utilitarian and also fun to sit and watch. SOLD
ON THE RUN #159 Here's the 7th painting I have just completed in the agricultural commission I received. An animal that is used in a multitude of sports and seen in most places in Southern Alberta is the horse. This is a stylized version done with saran wrap, a plastic bag, a brush and a black pen. Painting this girl was a lot of fun and added a little joy to my week...hope you enjoy it too!
BACK IN THE DAY # 158 The 6th in the agriculture commission. This old farm truck sits in my son’s yard in B.C. with evergreens surrounding it. I moved it to this spot and painted a typical agriculture scene around it. These trucks with the wooden box on back were the mainstay for a farmer ‘back in the day’. 24" X 18" X 2", acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. SOLD. Email me about any of my paintings [email protected].
LOOK INTO MY EYES #157 The 5th painting I completed in my agriculture commission. Any rancher is on the lookout for the wolf amongst their animals. They are a cunning and skilled animal which can lead to devastation in a herd since they typically work together as a pack to take down their prey. I wanted to show the wolf's ability to zone in on its prey and the fear that hits hard when a hunted animal or a human looks into its eyes. 18 x 24, Gallery wrap canvas. SOLD.
Whenever I paint an animal I try to "get under their skin" to put personality into their portrait. With 'Diesel' I wanted him to look stately, to represent his beed without the power and strength that we fear and are wry of. I used colour and the position of his head to achieve this. The hue of the abstract back ground pushes the bull forward as well as compliments the 'redness' in his hide. Compliments to my husband who built the frame for this guy. 'Diesel' 31" x 24 " handmade acrylic, standard canvas. SOLD
This past summer our family got together in Blairmore, AB and rented a big log house...loads of fun! Went quadding, jeeping, trucking, side-by-siding and what have you in the mountains. But, back to the story...we turned 17 paintings backwards on the deck and each family sent someone outside to pick a painting. This is one of my daughters who is clearly happy with what she got!
Depth and drama is revealed in this work of a bald eagle doing what it does best 'on the fly' by catching its dinner and keeping this iconic bird alive. I love the metaphor in the name I chose for this painting, balancing the strength of the bird and fagility and timing of its venture on the water. "Fly Fishing" 24" x 12", standard wrap canvas, unframed. $275.00. PM me for details and shipping.
Do you love old boats? I found this relic at Cassiar on the N.W Coast of British Columbia. Propped up on shore to be worked on and then left, only to serve as artists material. The name is not original ... the owner used the registration # ... which is actually quite imaginative ! Private Message me if you are interested in purchasing this little painting or want to receive my newsletter, due to be ready soon! '07H4A', 16" x 12", Gallery Wrap Canvas, $130. unframed.
