Who else is staying home this long weekend? The latest pile of paintings just went out for delivery, and now I am looking forward to a few good days at home. I mean, I’m here all day everyday at this point, but a long weekend just brings that extra slow, relaxing vibe. Hope you all have a good one!

There’s a lot happening around here this week. Mother’s Day paintings are nearly ready. Part of my studio is standing in as a kitchen while we power through our kitchen reno. And, in another corner of the studio, seeds are sprouting under lights, just waiting for the warm weather! This sweet little place on Park Ave is actually a historical gem. This was home to one of the first black families to settle in Brantford in the 19th century when Brantford was a destination for many travellers of the Underground Railroad. Art and illustration is a side hustle for me. Some days, like today, that means squeezing in bits of time outside of my day job to get it all done. This morning I was putting finishing touches on an ornament sketch, then meeting with a plumbing inspector for our kitchen reno (wee!) and then out the door to work.
