Anybody up for a game today? Ok, maybe not. Let’s dig into something else then, The Little Man. Credit goes to a podcast featuring Lucas Jadin, a performance coach at Train 2B Clutch. We have two voices that speak to us, not only in sports but in any relationship really.... #1 - Little man voice: built on fear, built on worry, built on worse case scenario thinking. This has been wired into us. Scarcity. The fear of never being blank enough, of always stemming from a fear of judgement. That this little person voice is constantly on the lookout of where I’m not yet. #2 - Big man voice: The courageous voice. Not a positive fluff voice. Just calmly seeing things as they are, and going from there. Why do we listen to the little man voice? It’s because it’s really convincing. It knows the cheapest cheap shots to get us to think that we’re not ready. The imposter syndrome of thinking that we’re exposed (I don’t belong). It will look for every bit of evidence to prove to us that it’s not worth the potential vulnerability, the potential failure to go out there, and so don’t do it...play it safe. The reason we listen to it is because it is REALLY FREAKIN CONVINCING at times. Anytime that we stick ourselves out, we get out of our comfort zone....you just gotta expect it to be there. **When big things come up...expect your little person to have a mega phone** What do you do when this moment arises? Practice pressing pause and asking or listening for what it is my big person saying in this moment. Then jump in.
