We believe that a one-off treatment or class can’t do the body justice. Every client at Lead gets a customized personal wellness team. Adding FST continues to help clients be proactive about their health.

Palmer Peak Performance 09.09.2020

One of the benefits of moving to Lead is that clients will have access to classes and other therapies that will complement the work we do in FST. The mix of movement-based body work will hopefully open doors to new experiences and a better quality of life.

Palmer Peak Performance 02.09.2020

Our goal is to educate, inspire and move every client that walks through the door. The collaborative nature of what we do here at Lead is second to none. Jana / Instructor / Owner Lead

Hip flexors and chest may be affected by working in an office. Poor posture can affect the balance with the front body and back body. This can cause pain and discomfort. Working through FST therapy and homework our goal is to create balance and stability.

Palmer Peak Performance 07.06.2020

For many of us the office chair in unavoidable. People of all fitness levels may experience negative effects from prolonged sitting. Fascial Stretch Therapy combined with proper stretching at home can be a very effective way to combat those negative effects.

Palmer Peak Performance 03.06.2020

What's stopping you from getting to the gym? Sometimes specific pains in the knees, hips and lower back caused by prolonged sitting can create anxiety about being active. Let’s talk about how we can get you moving in a safe and comfortable way. Reach out for a free consultation and let’s find out is Fascial Stretch Therapy is right for you.

Palmer Peak Performance 21.05.2020

Muscles and fascial lines like to work in pairs. Usually one side will be short and tight (area causing the pain) and the opposite will be long and weak, but not always! Where a big part of my success with clients comes from is opening and lengthening the short + tight side and activating and strengthening the long + weak side.

Palmer Peak Performance 18.05.2020

Are you sitting in your chair properly to minimize the effects of office work? I work on clients in the office but also, we create better habits and awareness they can take into their daily lives. The goal is to foster an environment for optimal health. Curious if Fascial Stretch Therapy is right for you? Book a free consultation and let’s talk.

Office work and homework! More cases than not, if someone is doing their homework even a couple times a week, they will notice a benefit. Whether that be reduced pain, ease of movement, less stress, better posture, increased range of motion, they are all positive.

Palmer Peak Performance 06.05.2020

This is a year of some exciting changes! I’m happy to announce that Starting April 15th I will be doing Fascial Stretch Therapy out of Lead Pilates! My business will fully transition by June, so from now until then I’ll be working out of both locations to make a smooth transition for all of my clients. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to be part of the Lead Team! And I can’t wait for my clients to check out this great space with such a positive and welcoming community!

I had some pain points in some of my muscles and joints, after seeing Reed for a period of about 8 months I noticed an improvement. He also gave me stretches to do that also helped. -Bob

The desk working clients that typically come to see me for sessions range from accountants, financial advisers, HR staff, insurance industry, and computer programmers. Regardless of your fitness level being at a desk for a prolonged period of time can have negative effects. Many of these effects can be counteracted with FST therapy and can be addressed proactively.

Palmer Peak Performance 25.03.2020

I really try to emphasize slow steady progress for long term success. There is no quick fix for anything. If fitness were easy, everyone would be fit, healthy, and have no pain. When it comes to results it's all about progress and consistency.

Palmer Peak Performance 21.03.2020

To maximize results, I do a combination of work on the table and finish sessions with homework. My goal is not only to help you achieve long term success, but to understand why it's working so you know how to maintain progress.

Cossack squats! __ This is one of my favorite warm up/mobility exercises for the lower body. It can also be used in your workout as it can be quite challenging. For myself, it helps decrease knee and anterior hip pain, it gives me better range of motion, and, more importantly, gives me strength through my full range of motion. __ How to do it:... . Stance should be around 1.5 times your shoulder width -- this will vary person to person, adjust as needed. __ Pick a side to start and pull yourself down towards one foot. Maintain a straight spine during descent. I like to start with my hands down as I’m warming up. Planted leg stays flat with weight evenly distributed. __ Point your opposite toes up to the ceiling as you continue to straighten your posture. As you transition to the other side, engage your glutes as much as you can to drive you out of the pocket so you don’t rely on your quads, knees, and lower back. __ Repeat on the other side and as you progress, then keep your hands up and come down as low as you can with proper form. __ What’s your favorite mobility/warm up exercise . . #functionalexercise #mobility #cossacksquat #personaltrainer #fitlife #exercise See more

Don't chase the pain is an important concept when it comes to reducing tension and increasing functionality. Areas of chronic pain are typically (not always) a symptom of a problem coming from somewhere else. In office workers this concept is especially important. Through FST treatment and some homework we can achieve really incredible results.

Palmer Peak Performance 27.02.2020

When foam rolling or using a lacrosse/tennis ball, how much pressure is best for optimal results? A lot of times, less is more. __ The number one indicator I utilize for myself and my clients, is breath. Ever notice when you roll over a big knot and you inhale sharply into your chest? Or notice that you’re holding your breath through a painful area? __ That’s your sympathetic nervous system turning on saying, piss off! If you can’t control your breath when stretching an...d/or rolling, you’re doing too much. __ Remember, the main goal of self myofascial release (SMFR) is to REDUCE tension. Breath is one the best and most effective ways to do this. If breath stops or is uncontrolled, you are likely to INCREASE tension and can actually bruise the tissue and make it worse. __ Pay attention to breath next time you stretch and/or roll and see what happens! It’s not about how far you can go or how much pressure you can take, it’s about quality movement. . . #fascia #muscles #release #breath #reducetension #fst #functionalmovement #yxe #saskatoon See more

Find it difficult to feel your lower abs working during leg raises? That’s because pelvic control is harder than people think. __ Your lower back should be flat when doing any type of leg raise, whether it be single, double, bent, or straight. As soon as your back lifts, your hip flexors and lower back WILL take over. __ This is why I initially teach people bent single leg raises to gain better mind to muscle connection, proprioception (body awareness), and better full bod...y integration. __ How to do it: Lay on your back with your knees bent and feet flat. Flatten your lower back (posterior tilt of pelvis) to make contact to the ground, this can be difficult at first. Remember to go slow and keep in mind this should not be a forceful feeling. We are trying to engage the lower abs to assist in a posterior tilt of the pelvis. Muscling it will activate many areas that should stay relaxed. Now raise one leg maintaining a 90 degree bend. As you do so there should be no movement in your pelvis and your lower back should stay flat. This will limit the engagement of your hip flexors and keep your core activated. __ Slowly lower your leg and repeat on the other side. As you switch there should be no twist or shift in your hips, everything should remain square. __ Once that becomes easy, then we progress to straight single leg raises and eventually double. Keep in mind most people struggle with - including myself - a SINGLE rep with two straight legs with proper form. This exercise is very difficult when done correctly. . #core #properformishard #lowerabs #functionalmovement #trainer #muscles #wegetresults #personaltrainer #takeyourtime #mindtomuscle #integration #yxe #saskatoon

Try this next time you roll your mid back (thoracic area). __ Elbows in vs. Elbows out. And why I prefer elbows in. __ When rolling your mid back, elbow position can make a noticeable difference. Here’s why.... __ Elbows out: retracts or brings your shoulder blades closer together. Why is detrimental (keep in mind this is only for foam rolling this area)? Bringing the shoulder blades together not only activates the area you’re trying to relax, it also blocks the tissue we are trying to target. __ Elbows in: protracts or brings shoulder blades forward which exposes the area we are targeting. This will also increase sensitivity, proprioception, and lead to better results. __ When foam rolling any area of the body remember slower is better and maintain controlled deep breathing to stay relaxed. __ Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Can you tell if your posture is helping or hurting you? Sound on. In this video I briefly cover 4 common things I see in my clients that are hurting their posture. These are: Locked out knees. Standing and walking with locked out knees puts strain on our joints, can lead to hyperextension, and alters gait patterns. Try a ‘soft bend’, gently unlocking the knees, allowing the muscles to support you.... Anterior pelvic tilt (arched back) -- This is a big one as it will inhibit your core and especially your glutes. In addition, it adds tension in your lower back and hip flexors. Imagine a weight attached to your sacrum (base of spine) gently pulling down. This helps to posteriorly tilt your pelvis (flattens your back). It will also help engage your core. Rounded shoulders -- A tight chest and poor posture causes your mid back (retractors) to become lengthened, underactive, and weak. This is detrimental as these are postural muscles. Try gently squeezing your shoulder blades together. Strengthens your mid back and opens your chest. Forward head -- Compresses your cervical vertebrae (neck) and can be one source of tension headaches and jaw pain. Picture the crown of your head being gently lifted towards the ceiling. This will help reduce the feeling of forcing your head into position. . . #posture #functionalmovement #painfree #wegetresults #fst #fascia #mindmuscleconnection #fascialstretchtherapy #mobility #functional

Do you ever stretch the outside of your calf? A.K.A. your fibularis longus. Why is this important you may ask? This little guy has a big impact your posture. __ Locally, this muscle everts your foot and can lead to overpronation, which visually shows as a flattened medial arch. __... Globally speaking, foot pronation can lead to medial rotation and collapsing of the knee. Which in turn leads to hip adduction and internal rotation, collectively known as knee valgus. This condition can be quite painful, tough to deal with, and puts you at a higher risk of injury. __ As you can see, foot alignment can have a strong influence on posture and functionality of your entire body. __ Having correct foot/ankle alignment makes it easier to stack your joints and increase stability, not to mention how much pressure it takes off your joints and ligaments. __ The good news is that through proper assessment and testing, we can get to the root of the cause and get results without causing any pain! . . #seekthepeak #fascialstretchtherapy See more

I find this gives great feedback for the clients’ mind to muscle connection to fire very specific areas. Here we are titrating between internal and external rotation of the hip to get a nice smooth range of moti...on and release tension in the Obturator Internus. __ PNF is effective in helping the client relax because it stimulates the mechanoreceptors such as the GTO’s (golgi tendon organs). Here’s a sneak peek of a couple techniques we learn in the FST Level 3 course. __ This is called press & stretch and in this video I am using it to aid in hip internal rotation and decompress the thoracolumbar fascia. __ The superficial back net is a line of fascia that starts on the plantar surface of the feet and runs all the way up the posterior body to your forehead. In a lot of cases there is too much tension in the erector spinae which can cause limitations in hip mov...ement. Also, periods of prolonged sitting can cause the sacrotuberous ligament to stick to the ischial tuberosities. __ The combination of tension in these two areas can put significant strain on our superficial back net. __ Releasing the erectors while we do internal hip rotation is an effective way to help the hip capsule sit neutral, take pressure off the SBN, and decrease pain and discomfort. . . #seekthepeak #fst #fascia #fascialstretchtherapy #painfree #stretch #stretching #wegetresults #stretchtowin #happyhips See more

This is a small movement that packs a punch! A lot of times the tension and pain we feel in our muscles and fascia can actually be coming from a tight joint capsule. Whether we have jobs that involve a lot of sitting or standing, nowadays we get a lot of compression in our joints which leads to stiffness, lack of mobility, and then pain. This stretch creates space in the hip capsule by gliding the femoral head down and then out, which allows a smoother and fuller range of m...otion, as well as helping to spread synovial fluid throughout the joint. . . #seekthepeak #fascialstretchtherapy #fst #painfree #stretching #fascia #setitfreewithfst #wegetresults #stretchtowin See more

Depending on levels of tension and how we move our body, some areas can ‘clump together’ or become ‘stuck’. This can restrict range of motion and the gliding relationship our muscles and fascia have. The hamstrings are a common area for this to happen as they are very close together at the knee and the fact we tend to be in knee flexion a lot from being sedentary. By isolating the medial and lateral hamstrings, we can help them glide and move freely through a full range of m...otion. This can also aid in releasing pressure on the knee joint as well as the ischial tuberosities. #seekthepeak #fascialstretchtherapy #fst #fascia #stretching #painfree #wegetresults #stretchtowin #lovemyjob #
