Allan Palmer was performing a few years ago during a book signing event at McNally Robinson when this interesting gentleman attending the event stopped to ask f...or a business card, saying he’d love to hire him one day. He called Allan up yesterday to say he was having a backyard memorial gathering today for his wife, who just passed away At the end of July, and asked if he would come play her favorite song, Hallelujah....Allan had just enough time to learn the music between last night and this afternoon. He played for a couple of hours a variety of different pieces, but the looks of love on everyone’s faces when he played Hallelujah called for playing a couple of encores. I love how music has the ability to connect people with memories and bring them comfort at times like this. Without art, there is no healing for pain. I’m so moved to know that my son understands and appreciates the therapeutic qualities of music as much as the entertainment and business aspect.

Lots of excitement at our house last night ... Aaron Marshall Clarke hosted his living room music show #livingmusicwpg live from Allan Palmer’s teaching studio.......The monthly series is a live open mike call-in show for Winnipeg artists and there were some wonderful talents joining in last night. Allan was the featured guest host, so he enjoyed the interview spotlight in between performances. Aaron’s show is sponsored by Tim Hortons, so yes there was delicious coffee and donuts. (I hadn’t had a donut in years, but I enjoyed one of them with coffee this morning). The cats didn’t know what to make of the whole evening, but Oreo settled right in with the film crew. It’s been awhile since I have made a post! Just a quick update... I am still teaching majority of my students weekly via Skype or FaceTime! I plan to open up the option for students to have in-person sessions again, (likely next week) However if those taking lessons with me ... through Skype/FaceTime would like to continue doing so... that is perfectly fine Hope everyone is staying safe! Miss you all

It was nice to be invited to be a part of a plan to help bring cheer to people who might be feeling lonely in isolation these days. Music helps everyone heal.
