Despite signs of excess exuberance in the economy, including record-high home prices, Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem says the central bank is sticking to its plan to keep rates low until unemployment and other economic indicators recover from the effects of COVID-19.

If your mortgage is with ATB or a mono-line lender, it may be to your advantage to ask them for an estimated payout penalty and what rate they would give you fo...r an early renewal. Several of my clients are renewing early and saving thousands in interest. If you want me to do the calculation for you, email Pam@brokersforlife. ca. Unfortunately the major banks and some other lenders calculate payout penalties differently and it is usually costing the same for the penalty as you will save. If your mortgage is coming up for renewal with a major bank, it may be time to make a change. Give me a call 780 257 6057 if you would like to discuss. See more

If you pay your taxes thru the bank with your mortgage, now may be a time to change. The bank will pay the taxes from your tax account June 30th. You can then a...sk the bank to cancel the tax deduction from being included in your mortgage ( they need to approve). Then in Nov., you set up enrollment and start to pay taxes monthly in Jan. Will package: 2 people $ 716.00 and single $476.00 general public. Dying without a Will can create problems for those you leave behind. Your children may not receive the amount you wanted them to receive and there is no opportunity to provide a trust for them. This means that when they reach the age of majority (which is 18 in Alberta) they receive all of the funds whether or not you have chosen that option at that point in their lives. The Public Trustee is involved in th...e administration of your childrens share if they are minors. This means the government will decide your childs financial future. The government will also take a portion of your estate, as their fee. Common law relationships or same sex relationships are not recognized under the Intestate Succession Act. This means that your significant other may not receive anything from your estate upon your death. In the event of a common disaster (where your whole immediate family passes away), your estate may go to a relative that you may have never spoken to.

To our valued customers Insurers, CMHC, Genworth, and Canada Guarantee already had programs in place with the banks/lenders that allowed them to defer up to 6 monthly payments. Here are some of the requirements. 1. Original insured loan amount is not exceeded 2. Request to cap payments is received prior to Sept 13, 2020 3. Bank/lender confirms the capitalization is being applied reasonably to help mitigate short-term financial difficulty resulting from COVID-19.... The programs are facilitated through the banks/lenders and therefore you should be directing your clients to contact their lender directly for further assistance. Some banks/lenders have their own assistance options as well. Here is a list of customer service numbers of the lenders and banks that we deal with.
