An example of how government and Indigenous Peoples can work together effectively and respectfully to meet the needs of the people through: 1) Protecting and promoting culture. 2) Empowering the people with relevant key information. 3) Serving the people as "lingkod bayani" [ 'servant heroes'] and with the comportment of "malasakit" [protective caring empathy].... Excerpts: "While the government works for development, it too protects culture and promotes Blaan tradition and plants that [are] mostly only known among IPs [Indigenous Peoples]. ... Recognizing the importance of informed-citizenry, the government also provided information education campaigns particularly on IP Declaration on Protection Policy, Rights of the Filipino Children, Indigenous People's Rights Act or IPRA Law, and Cultural heritage to inform the community of their rights and their children's rights and privileges as Filipinos and IPs. ..... But this is not an achievement of one person or office. Amguo today is not a result of plainly giving the community their services of the government It was an achievement of the people from the government, the mga lingkod bayani, who served Amguo with malasakit , and the people of Amguo who welcomed the government in their community. ..... Let us together join the country in recognizing the mga lingkod bayani and their passion to service the people and together continue to encourage them to always answer the challenges of time with malasakit.
