Having a new born and trying to keep my toddler(s) engaged in learning activities has proven its self to be challenging at times. One of the thing I do (regardless of having a new born) is keep art supplies, materials, and tools out for children to access when ever they feel inspired to create. In the pictures you will see Emma partaking in a art experience that she created on her own. All I did was take pictures and give her tape so that she could hang her masterpiece up

Everything is changing now that the snow is melting. We are switching over to spring! My little friend have spotted lots of new birds flying around. I thought it would be good to talk about something else that goes through a big change and that also flies. The butterfly!

Hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's day and family day weekend! It's a great time to talk to children about the word love and what it means to them. How does love make you feel? How can we share love with others? ... My group is very loving. In fact just today one of my little friends was painting and said "look Sammy I made a heart" I replied "it's a lovely shape" and that's when she said "I made it because I love my Mommy and my Daddy and I love you Sammy" Sweet moments like these can cause a 35 week pregnant educators eyes to water up for sure.

This might look like a regular dramatic play area but if you look closer you will see I have added rainbow pellets and play dough! I find when I add plastic food 10% of the time it gets played with, and 90% of the time it just ends up all over the floor. Every since I have added loose parts (sells, rocks, corks, and these new additions) the children have been more engaged with their play and it adds more learning opportunities.
