Yay! More happy Paragon Pooch graduates, class of 2021! Believe it or not, this handsome Labradoodle is still only a puppy! Fortunately, his owner invested in training classes to learn how to teach him manners and basic obedience before he got any bigger and bouncier. Charlie has been learning to walk nicely on a leash, to come when called, but more importantly, he has been learning proper manners and self-control- which is a must for this energetic, fun-loving breed. We make all the learning into a fun game so that dogs and their owners have a great time while learning behaviours.

Wouldn't it be marvellous for your dog to go to his bed on cue and stay there? He wouldn't be at the table when your family is eating, or bothering guests who aren't that keen on dogs. He could be out from underfoot while your racing around the house getting ready to leave for work. Teaching a dog impulse control helps to prevent or solve behaviour problems such as jumping up on people, grabbing things and stealing food from tables and counters. We get this skill started in our Foundations in Training and Marvellous Manners class then take it to the next level and apply it to Real World situations in the Defeating Distractions class. We have our first graduates of 2021! Hurricane Hazel blew through the foundations course like a breeze! This super bright and eager Australian Shepherd puppy and her human sidekick learned valuable foundation skills together such as leash manners, recalls, going to a bed and some impulse control. Now they are ready to take their learning to the next level in our Defeating Distractions class. They should be ready to face the many tantalizing distractions that come with a spring thaw in time for March.

Cette belle famille avec son chiot, Kali, un épagneul Springer Anglais, sont nos nouveau finissants du cours maternelle. Tous les membres de la famille ont participé à tous les cours pour apprendre comment bien socialiser Kali et à débuter des bonnes manières.

Dans notre cours de maternelle nous faisons plein de choses pour aider avec la socialisation. Ici les filles ont mis des drôles de chapeaux et des perruques pour habituer Kali aux déguisements et aux apparences différents.

Que fait-on de la sécurité publique dans tout ça? ? Par ailleurs, selon des données de l'AMVQ, le chien de la famille était responsable de 38% des cas de morsures chez les enfants. Dogs have always been easier to train.

Here Hazel and her human are using techniques learned in class to teach puppies in a positive way how to handle things and people whizzing by.

More puppy graduates! Little Hazel and her family recently completed the Puppy Start Right course. Her humans learned how to socialize her to sights, sounds, smells, movement, people and dogs in the BIG WORLD as well as establish some good habits and manners. They are now moving up to Foundations in Training and Marvellous Manners to learn more great behaviours and training techniques to help Hazel be a well-mannered family dog.

Learning the correct leash skills is key to achieving a loose leash and thus having a pleasant walk with your dog. I make this skill one of the top priorities in the Foundations in Training and Marvellous Manners class.
