Hello all, just another reminder of why a home inspection is PARAMOUNT!!! This heat exchanger is cracked in a 20 year old mid efficient furnace and Carbon monoxide would be present in the output air, thankfully we found the cracks BEFORE testing the furnace and the home owners will be notified. An inspection is just a smart idea, cheers!!!

Home winterization!!! Unfortunately it's that time of year when the temperatures are dropping, and we must make sure that we winterize our hosebibs and sump pump discharge hoses. IF you have a house with frost free hosebibs, make sure that the handles are turned off, and that not just the hoses, but attachments as well, are disconnected. IF you have a house with standard hosebibs (90's or earlier), make sure that the shut-off valves are turned off and bled in the basement, a...nd ensure that all hoses and attachments are disconnected outside. IF you have a house with a sump discharge HOSE connection (above grade discharge), make sure that it is disconnected during freezing temperatures as standing water in the hose can freeze which can cause back-ups in the sump pit should moisture be present. As we prepare for a few days of cooler weather and some well needed rain, take the time to make sure your sump pump is working, and your downspout leaders are extended away from the foundation! Such simple tasks can prevent moisture in your basement. Have a PARAMOUNT week everyone
