Today at the park the toddlers saved a dragonfly from the grass. They enjoyed watching it play and fluttering around. The children even named it Duck the dragonfly.
Thank you to everyone who voted! It is an honour to announce that in 2020 Parasol has been voted BEST Daycare of the year
Ms Caitlyn, Ms Anna and their children had a wonderful time on their field trip to Centennial Park.
Sensory fun was explored by the Toddlers today. Enjoying their five senses at the age of 2 is way funnier than when your an adult! Taking in the smells, feeling, sound, site, and as much as we try to stop it taste of different sensory opportunities.
School age children went to Centennial Park. What fun experiencing the petting zoo and the water park! Then ending the day with a little treat. Thank you Ms Dakota.
"Our words matter far less to our children than what we actually think and feel. Our children are the most sensitive, receptive and perceptive audience we will ever encounter, and for them, our feelings and attitudes are transparent and contagious. If were the slightest bit anxious or uncomfortable, our child has no choice but to feel that anxiety as well. If were annoyed, impatient or even a bit rushed, children have a harder time functioning and will tend to put on the br...akes. Its as if our uncomfortable energy sucks all the air out of the room. A fascinating study reported in Scientific American showed how our children catch our social biases through the nonverbal messages we might unconsciously send. So we can preach our unbiased approach to children all we want, but what children sense about us in action will override all of those lessons." This article by Janet Lansbury shares both scientific and anecdotal evidence that when parents prioritize empathy in their home, their children will naturally absorb that. However, many children reported that they believed that their parents value academic achievement over being a caring community member. Are our children receiving mixed messages?
So important to remember this
Having a super silly Friday!
Our first day back on the playground since March!! The children were overly excited about being back! Just an FYI we took all necessary precautions of washing hands before and after playing also while playing (water breaks). And on arrival we did a snack break first while teacher did precautionary checks and sprayed EnviroCare on all areas and waited 10mins for it to dry completely before starting out play!
It feels like poo nuggets Um crushing it do you hear me? Listen its making noice.. crunch crunch crunch! Observations of what it feels like to step on and roll over a bag of stale Cheerios. Then we drove vehicle over smaller bags to see what would happen too... they popped open!!
Toddlers are embracing activities that strengthen their fine motor and pincer grasp muscles. Also it was fun spraying the dragon and putting his fire breathe out !!
Embracing our theme of TRANSPORTATION the children made stop lights for the classroom. They also painted a Firetruck and now play and sing the fire truck song. Ride the Fire Truck... Hurry hurry ride fire truck, hurry hurry ride the fire truck, hurry hurry ride the fire truck, ding ding ding ding ding. (Sung fast) Hurry hurry climb the ladder, hurry hurry climb the ladder, hurry hurry climb the ladder, ding ding ding ding ding. (Sung Fast) Hurry hurry squirt the water, hurry hurry squirt the water, hurry hurry squirt the water, ding ding ding ding ding. (Sung Fast) Slowly slowly back to the station, slowly slowly back to the station, slowly slowly back to the station, Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. (Sung slow)
The pure love between childhood friends is incredible... Lots of fun... Memories to be cherished... Greater understanding.. Loads of love... Nothing can compare to the beautiful and true friendship of childhood.. Distance may scatter them apart... But the love among them will unite them and will never fade for a lifetime!!! ~ Lyf_thngs ~
The 3-5s alphabet board that each child personally made with loose parts for their writing station. While making it, they were learning about phonetics and they had the freedom to add their own personalities and turned it into an amazing art
While stuck inside the toddlers are having a lot of fun learning about transportation. We enjoyed scooping and pouring water while we were bathing the cars and boats. We also coloured some rice Stop Light colors.
