A Great Grandmother's Dream A few months back a friend asked if I had ever worked doilies into my macrame - she had a few of her great grandmother's doilies laying around and was looking for a new way to bring them to life and display them throughout her family's homes. I had actually been hoping to create some doily dream catchers at some point, but I hadn't been able to get my hands on any appropriate doilies yet. So we agreed on a loose plan, she handed over the doilie...s, and I got to work. Getting these pieces started was a bit of a challenge, but one I happily accepted! The original doilies are quite intricate and delicate, so I made sure to handle them with extra care. I'm thrilled with how they turned out, and hope these five beautiful doilies get to live on for several more decades in their new form. Pounce. Pyrography on Polypore (tree fungus) About 5 years ago a family friend had given me this shelf fungus, which he had cut off of a tree near Weyakwin Lake many years ago. He decided to pass it on to me, thinking I might enjoy painting on it some day. I've had it tucked away ever since, but over Christmas I decided to pull it out and use my wood burning pen to create this little scene. ... You see, many of the folks up at Weyakwin Lake have a special bond with the family of foxes that live nearby, so I knew exactly what to do.
