The Paris Bohemian Gallery 28.01.2021

Do you remember a place that greets you by name with a smile, and a warm welcome? Do you remember a place of world changing conversation, welcoming to opinions and free of judgment, a place to be captured by a nostalgic song or struck by an emotion by some thing you seen hanging that took you somewhere sacred. A place you could go to vent, share, heal and express, inspire, be inspired by, weep, laugh until you pee (you know who you are!) or just a get a much needed hug. A pl...ace where you could commemorate a momentous weekend with an original treasure, or surprise someone special with a gift made with heart, wrapped with love and feel the enduring importance of a bow. A place where you could draw on the sidewalk with a child, paint a sidewalk with friends, be a feature of a date night or in enthusiastic welcome to a tour to discover a small town. Do you remember a meeting place of creative minds and entertaining personalities that unapologetically feels free to be themselves. Do you remember a place that the blue door is open to anyone looking to discover something more, to give back to our creators, to build a community strong with imagination, kindness and compassion behind its labours, and a vision that is inclusive and necessary for its growth and for our future generations of creative minds, that will seek to go outside of the box. A place you can expand your Bohemian Tribe. Art is not just a product, it is an energy WE share, it is a language WE need, it is a point WE may pivot together on as a community. I miss you all, and I look forward to opening up my blue door again real soon to experience all of these wonders again, safely and confidently. #parisbohogallery #boholovesyou #youaremissed #missyourface #behindthebluedoor #rememberaplace #forourcreatives #fuckcovid19 #supportingourcreativecommunity #supportinglocalartists #fortheloveoflocal #lovesmallbusinesses #seeyousoon #parisontario #lovelocalbrant #downtownparisontario See more

Counting all the blessings this year! Mostly the health and well being of loved ones. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2018, it quickly effected her lymphatic system. She realized that this was going to be a battle, but she is a natural warrior with a very positive mindset and knew her strong force of family could carry through when she could not for herself. In this journey, we came across this amazing organization called HopeSpring. On our initial visi...t, coming from my mother’s first Chemo appointment, we were warmly welcomed inside by a smile and a warm cup of tea. We discussed what they had to offer for folks battling for their lives, not sure of how conventional therapies would react with their bodies. HopeSpring is aptly named, as their Hopeful programs, empower patients and their families with information on nutrition, relaxation, exercise and peer therapy. As well as, building their spirit with dignity and confidence with their wig and camisole boutique and skincare and cosmetic seminars. They even have a free library! I saw such a positive transformation in my mom through this journey she still continues, her Will strengthened with love led organizations like these. Thank you HopeSpring! HopeSpring is an independent community organization founded in 1995 by a group of dedicated individuals committed to empowering those whose lives are impacted by cancer to improve their emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. They know a cancer diagnosis can be a devastating experience; the emotional strain can be as shattering as the physical disease itself. HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre exists to offer you information, emotional support, and the tools needed for empowerment, personal growth and self-help. HopeSpring is a not-for-profit organization that does not receive government funding and depends upon donations from organizations and individuals in our Region. We greatly value each and every donation of time and money that helps to ensure that HopeSpring's programs and services will sustain.

Meet the Maker Monday! Meet @missferrar CAITY FERRAR... Caity Ferrar was born and raised in Brantford, Ontario and she started taking art classes at a young age, with her father. Encouraged by her family, she attended Sheridan College and Ontario College of Art and Design. Calling Toronto home for 7 years, she created and exhibited work, facilitated artist workshops, murals and other large pieces as a contract artist. Caity and her son Oliver, proudly call Paris their home. Spirituality is an essential catalyst in Caity’s life and her creative process. She allows the paint to drip and flow and intuitively to let the piees come together organically. This allows the unconscious to become conscious, with different energy and life to each piece. Her ability to see the flowing energy and its interaction with the elements breathes life into her creations. Currently specializing in acrylic and graphite, Caity also enjoys creating jewelry, knitting, crocheting, as well as designing macramé, and clay sculptures. Each medium offers a different but important aspect to her healing process. Her beautiful collection on show now! #parisbohogallery #localartist #vibrant #womensupportingwomen #beautyhasmanyfaces #intuitiveart #brantcountyartist

Meet the Maker Monday! Meet @brittneytraverart BRITTNEY TRAVER... Brittney is an Artist and Interior Decorator living in Brantford, Ontario. Brittney is a graduate from the Fine Art program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. She continued her studies at NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Brittney spent the last ten years creating custom art and decorating homes in Nova Scotia. She recently relocated back to Southern Ontario to focus on her fine art career. She paints full time at her in-home studio located in Brantford. Brittney’s current work involves bold colours and texture to create layers of movement on gallery wrapped canvas. These abstract acrylic layers of paint represent the depth and growth in her personal life. Unbeknownst to the viewer, each layer has a story to tell. Brittney has always been fascinated with the use of water mixed with acrylic paint. Diluting the paint and brushing it onto the canvas creates movement that cannot easily be replicated. Brittney’s journey as an Artist and Interior Decorator has led her to focus on creating paintings that become the focal point in a room. Brittney’s abstract acrylic paintings can be found at Fanshawe College in their permanent collection as well as many homes and businesses across Canada, USA and The United Kingdom. Brittney’s collection is a perfect update to any decor, a variety of sizes available to wrap up in time for Christmas! #parisbohogallery #designbydesigner #designerartist #perfectdecor #updateyourhome #giftgivingmadeeasy #localartist

Meet the Maker Monday! Meet @christapottercreative CHRISTA POTTER... Christa’s first watercolour painting was a family portrait: Mommy, Daddy and Christa, age 4. It was a particularly harsh application of paint, with rough edges, but strong confident line work. The art didn’t stop there. Constantly inspired by her dad’s cartoons, drawings and paintings, she continued creating throughout her childhood and into her post secondary years, receiving her Bachelor of Arts for fine art at McMaster University. After achieving her teaching degree, she flew to England and taught art there, in a seaside town. She joined the local artists’ guild and experimented with a variety of new mediums, including batik, felting and watercolour work. Coming back to Ontario, she settled into teaching and used art as a way to relax and reconnect after a long day. Now residing in Paris, Ontario, she finds inspiration all over town: the historic houses and buildings, and the natural scenery of the Grand River. Christa’s paintings find a comfortable balance between precise details of an ink drawing and more spontaneous layers of watercolour. She uses her own photographs of places she has travelled or lived, and enjoys the sweetness of memories as she recreates those places. When she paints, she’s back at that childhood place of allowing the paint to do what it will, knowing she doesn’t always have to stay within the lines. For those who love Paris, her talent is framed with loved and ready for gifting! #parisbohogallery #smalltownlove #parispride #townportraits #talented #parisontario #giftingmadeeasy

Meet the Maker Monday! Meet @kimclark.fineart KIM CLARK... From the time Kim was small, she was happiest with a crayon in her hand. Her love of art has continued throughout her life, and in the summer of 2017, she took the leap and made the creation of art her full-time vocation. For the past several years, her focus has been on acrylic on canvas, and mixed media on wood panel pieces. Each mixed media piece is made up of at least 5 layers and can include paper, birch bark, book pages, sheet music, photographs, pencil, ink, watercolour and acrylic paint. Her inspiration is derived from the small moments and images that make up our day to day lives but often go overlooked. ‘In a world that has so much chaos, I strive to put order to it through my paintings by streamlining what I see to create a calm place to rest the eyes, breathe a little deeper and regain a moment of mental tranquility for the viewer. Painting is what makes me happy, and I endeavour to bring that joy into my work, and into your spaces.’ Kim also creates a line of Wearable Art; tiny, whimsical watercolour and ink paintings that are hand set into jewelry fittings that enable everyone to incorporate art into their every day lives. Her many hangable, wearable and home decor works make perfect Christmas gifts! #parisbohogallery #brantfordartist #wearableart #decorart #playfuldesigns #visualtexture #vibrantcolour #giftgivingmadeeasy
