Park City West Community Centre 03.02.2021

There has been numerous requests to rent ice from Park City West Community Club based on the possible changes to the health orders that may take place on February 13th. However at this time, the Board of Directors are waiting for directions from provincial and city authorities before we move forward with anything. Thank you for your understanding. PCWCC Board

Thank you Shawn Nason - Transcona City Councillor for helping to cover some of the costs associated with our 3 outdoor community skating rinks!!

Park City West Community Centre 19.01.2021

We now have hockey’s nets available on Rink 1 and 2. Please note that the provincial health guidelines have not changed at this time and games and practices are not allowed. Please contact 311 to report any violations as the community club is not responsible for enforcing these guidelines and fines will be paid by the individuals in violation. Please note that Rink 3 is for family skating only - no sticks or pucks allowed. Have fun and be safe!!

Park City West Community Centre 31.12.2020

Unfortunately we have lost Rink 2 for the time being. With weather in the pluses this week, we will need to watch closely and see what happens with the other two rinks. We appreciate your understanding. We will keep you updated.

And without further ado... the 3 skating rinks at Park City West Community Club are open!! Please remember to follow the provincial health orders to ensure that the rinks can remain open for the season. Please remember that the clubhouse is closed. There are no washrooms onsite and you will need to put your skates on outside. Have fun and stay safe!!

We know that everyone is excited about skating and we are working very hard to get the ice in on all three rinks. We will post on our Facebook page and our website the moment ice is ready to go. We appreciate your patience.

Park City West Community Centre 07.12.2020

We are working hard to get everything ready to open the rinks however we still have lots of work to do and the weather isn’t really working with us. We will post of our Facebook page and website once we are ready to open. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

ODR Update! We have received clarification on the rules for outdoor rinks from the Province/GCWCC. Park City West will begin flooding the rinks as soon as the weather permits. Rules are as follows:... 1. Individuals outside of a 5 person family unit must stay 2 metres apart. If there are too many people on the ice and you cannot maintain a 2 metre distance from those outside of your household, you will need to wait until someone comes off the ice. 2. No washrooms or change facilities are provided. You will have to use your vehicle/come dressed. The community club will not be open. 3. Masks are not required. 4. Ice cannot be rented for practices, games or for any other reason. 5. Please clean up after yourself. Garbage bins are provided. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]

An important message from the Board of Directors of Park City West CC. I hope that this note finds you all safe and healthy. As some of you are aware the province recently amended its Code Red restrictions to allow for small social gatherings during some outdoor activities. Specifically, they are allowing for small gatherings outdoors to skate. In conjunction with this community clubs were advised we could begin installing outdoor ice immediately.... As it stands right now, the province has also stipulated that it will be the responsibility of each the community centre to enforce ALL social distancing and public health guidelines, and that liability will fall on the centre if rules are not followed. At this time, we are still facing several hurdles despite the announcement last Friday. Today, we received a notice from the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres (GCWCC - the governing body of our city's community centres) to advise against flooding until more information can be obtained from the City, their lawyers, the Public Health Department, and Bylaw Enforcement. Despite the building and property being owned by the City of Winnipeg, the Board of Directors is responsible for the operations and activities of the centre. This is where community centres differ from the city owned and run recreational facilities and parks. It’s also why we must rely heavily on volunteers to operate. As a result of the current conditions, unfortunately, Park City West Community Centre WILL NOT be installing ice on its outdoor rinks at this time. As a volunteer board we are monitoring the situation closely. We are working with the city and province to see if there is any potential solution to this issue. Should there be any changes to the Code Red restrictions scheduled to end on January 8th or should there be a solution to policing social distancing guidelines, we will look at the situation again to determine if it is feasible to install ice and notify the public accordingly. If you are interested in learning more about how the Community Centre runs or looking to lend a helping hand, we'd gladly invite you to join the board of directors! If you have questions or concerns please feel free to email the club at [email protected] Thanks again for your patience and we promise to keep you posted as we receive more information.

May 12, 2020 - All refunds for ages 8 and under have been processed back to the credit card you paid with, or a cheque sent to your home address if you paid in cash. Credit card refunds can take 5-7 business days. If you have a child in 9 and over soccer, we are still waiting on a decision from the government and WYSA. The current direction is that they are still in a suspended state hopeful for a late start season. If you wish to withdraw your child and receive a refund, please send an email to [email protected]. We are processing any refund requests for anyone in this age group as the come in back to the credit card you paid with (or by cheque if you paid in cash). If you have questions, please contact [email protected]

Park City West Community Centre 18.07.2020

Further to our post on April 9, 2020, we made the decision to cancel our programs for Ages 8 and under. We have started to process refunds, but due to the amount of refunds to be processed, we have had to forward a cheque to our payment provider in order to process any further refunds. Due to this, the refund process has been delayed. We are hopeful that we will resume refunds shortly. Please note that if you paid by credit card, your refund will be processed back to your... card you paid with. If you paid by cash or debit, you will be mailed a cheque to your address on file. If you have a child in 9 and over soccer and have already requested a refund, these will be processed as well once we can resume processing refunds. At this point, we have not received any further direction from WYSA or MSA on the season, and it is still in a suspension status. If you havent already, and would like to withdraw your child and receive a refund, please email [email protected]. We thank you for your patience in this unprecedented time. PCWCC Board of Directors

Here is an update for Soccer 9 and up. We will continue to share information as it becomes available.

Park City West Community Centre 24.06.2020

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Firstly as it stands right now, PCWCC has elected to begin processing full refunds for all registrations for our in-house Micro & Mini soccer programs (8 years old and under). We had been anxiously hoping that some kind of season may be able to be saved, but in an effort to adhere to the social distancing protocol and with the cities decision to cancel all spring programming and all requests for permits have been cancelled through to the ...end of June, it does not appear any kind of season can be salvaged. We also understand these are trying times for some families and feel that refunding registrations is the proper thing to do. Because the Micro & Mini soccer programs are community club run and controlled we have elected to begin processing refunds effective April 15th, 2020. We would kindly ask that you be patient as we begin processing refunds. Secondly, there are several spring sports that do not fall under the control of our community club. Hardball is governed by the Red River Valley Baseball Assoc (RRVBA). RRVBA has postponed their season and not officially cancelled anything as of yet. You must contact them directly to inquire about refunds or go their website for more details. Softball is governed by the North East Softball Assoc (NESA) and Manitoba Softball. They too have postponed their season and have not cancelled anything to date. You must contact them directly to inquire about refunds or go their website for more details. Soccer (9 years and older) is governed by the Canadian Soccer Assoc (CSA), Manitoba Assoc (MSA) and Winnipeg Youth Soccer Assoc (WYSA). They have advised their season is again currently under a state of suspension rather than being cancelled. We will keep you posted as we hear more news. That being said, they will all re-evaluate as per government and provincial health recommendations. For soccer 9 and up, if you would like to withdraw your child now though, we will refund your registration fees back to you by the same means as which you paid. We would simply ask that you please contact the community club directly by emailing [email protected] or you can await further details as they are released by RRVBA, NESA, CSA, MSA and WYSA regarding the state of their respective outdoor seasons some time closer to the end of April. We would begin processing these requests effective April 15th, 2020 as well. On behalf of PCWCC we would like to thank you for your patience, stay safe & isolate! Michael Purdy President

In accordance with provincial guidelines available at the following link https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/coronavirus/index.html the City recommends the closure of all Winnipeg Community Centres."
