A spokesperson for the LTB confirmed that between April 2020 and March 2021, the board conducted 24,946 hearings related to eviction applications, but that it does not track hearing outcomes.

ATTENTION: Today, May 12th, is the last day to let your employer know in writing that you want to be paid for up to 3 sick days taken between April 19, 2021 and... April 28, 2021. Please share this widely with workers in your community! For more information about accessing benefits and your rights at work, please call the Workers' Action Centre at 416-531-0778.
"What we see in general in the neighbourhood is that as rents rise, and the rental real estate market heats up, landlords look for any way they can to evict the tenants, especially tenants like Theresa who are living in two-bedroom apartments where they could raise the rent substantially," Webber said.
Today we launched a report showing how exclusionary the new short-term permanent residency program is and insisting on #StatusforAll Add your voice to ours, cal...l PM @JustinTrudeau right now: https://migrantrights.ca/callforstatus/ https://globalnews.ca//migrant-workers-international-stud/

"Given the certainty of a challenging winter ahead, it is past time for governments to re-enact eviction bans, freeze rents and ask large and financialized landlords to absorb their share of this pandemic-induced economic crisis." https://www.nationalobserver.com//canada-2020-housing-rent
We are eight months into a pandemic and yet it feels like we are back at the beginning. Yet again, there are COVID-19 outbreaks affecting migrant workers on fa...rms. Yet again, migrant and undocumented people are losing jobs as regions shut down. And still no action to save lives and livelihoods. Any day now, the federal government will release its ‘fiscal update’, a sort of mini-budget which will outline the government’s plan to ensure a just recovery. We already know their priorities: all but the Green Party this week voted against an NDP motion to create a 1% tax on individual wealth over $20 million. It is crucial that decision makers hear from you that there can be no just recovery without full and permanent immigration status for all. VAC Update Visa Application Centres (VACs) will begin scheduling limited biometric appointments as of November 20 in: Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ah...medabad and Bengaluru. Family Class applicants and Study Permit principal applicants will have priority as we phase in services. Walk-in clients at the VACs are not permitted. All appointments must be confirmed in advance. Please do not visit the VAC unless you are attending your own scheduled appointment. If you have a unique Biometric Instructions Letter (BIL) issued by IRCC, you will receive additional instructions via email to the email ID we have on file for you on how to schedule your biometric appointment. We appreciate your patience. More appointments will become available each week as we phase in this service. Canadian Immigration and Citizenship
Happening today 2pm at 345 Rexdale Blvd. All out for Ebrahim Toure
Webber says the cases he’s been involved in where tenants successfully challenged an AGI were ones in which tenants organize and make demands to their landlord outside of the legal process.
BREAKING!! Intimidated and fired for asserting his rights and speaking to the media, migrant farmworker Gabriel Flores refused to back down. With the help of ot...her migrant workers, he took his multi-millionaire bosses at Scotlynn Farms to the labour board and won $24,000! But his case is just the tip of the iceberg. The immigration system is to blame for giving employers the tools they use to intimidate and punish workers. Join us in calling on Prime Minister Trudeau to Ensure Full & Permanent Immigration Status for All! SIGN THE PETITION: https://migrantrights.ca/status-for-all/
