Extreme cold = icy roads. Our crews are working 24/7, but sand/salt aren’t always as effective in cold weather and icy conditions will be an ongoing issue until... the weather warms up. Winter driving reminders: Slow down The posted speed limits are for ideal conditions Leave space Don’t follow the vehicle in front of you too closely Give yourself extra time It could take twice as long to get to your destination

Winter weather is unpredictable. Be prepared and winterize your vehicle’s emergency kit. Add an ice scraper, sand or gravel, small shovel, blankets, extra cloth...ing and footwear and other winter items to keep you safe if you need to wait for help. Take some time to ensure food hasn't expired and water is still fresh. For more tips, visit https://www.alberta.ca/safer-winter-highways.aspx

***UPDATE: As of 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, the snow route parking ban is no longer in effect. Parking is now permitted on all collector roads in Sherwood Pa...rk. Thank you for your cooperation.*** In response to approximately 20 centimetres of snow since Saturday morning, a snow route parking ban has been declared in Sherwood Park, effective Monday, November 9 at 12 noon. This parking ban applies to collector roads marked with permanent signs that state snow route when declared. Parking is permitted after the snow is removed. Additional resources have been called in to help with the cleanup, as Strathcona County crews will continue working to clear snow on urban and rural roads. All rural roads and Sherwood Park collector roads are expected to be cleared by Friday, pending further weather conditions. For a list of all collector roads and updates on the status please visit: https://www.strathcona.ca//parkin/snow-route-parking-bans/
Clocks go back one hour this weekend!
Alberta is returning to a privately-run road test system for passenger vehicles to address lengthy wait times. Driver examiners will be hired or contracted thro...ugh Alberta registries. Starting Dec. 1, Albertans can book driver exams for Class 4, 5 and 6 licences for January through a new online system or with local registry agents. Government driver examiners will continue to conduct Class 1 to 3 commercial truck and bus road tests to ensure drivers meet the high standards set through the new Mandatory Entry-Level Training program.
