#Genderbasedviolence has devastating effects on health and mental well-being. Those affected by GBV report higher rates of depression, anxiety disorders (such a...s PTSD), suicidal behaviour and self-harm. If you’re a mental and general health care provider/professional, you may be interested in the Willow Place-MAWS online course on #GenderBasedViolencePrevention. The course has valuable information on how to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to those affected by family, domestic and gender-based violence. The Manitoba 150 Women Trailblazers awards are out and we’re proud to share that Ms. Anna Pazdzierski is a recipient! Anna has worked tirelessly for decades t...o advance equality for women and girls in Canada. Formerly the Executive Director of Nova House, which she led for 20 years, Anna has also been a tenacious advocate for the interests and rights of women and girls, including services for mental health, support for survivors of violence and sexual assault, resources for women in leadership, as well as better working conditions, equal wages and benefits for those working in the field of domestic violence. Anna’s client-first attitude, involvement in community education, and collaborative approach to leadership and change in the GBV prevention sector are an inspiration to us all. Congratulations Anna!
