Passing of Joan Lemoine City of Parksville flags are now at half-mast to honour the passing of Parksville resident and friend, Joan Lemoine. Joan Lemoine loved... Parksville and cared greatly for the people of Parksville. She was a positive force in the world, the consummate volunteer, generous with her time and endless energy. It was just this past June that we honoured Joan with the key to the City and celebrated Joan Lemoine Day in the City of Parksville. With saddened heart we learn of Joan’s passing. No one personified community spirit like Joan. She touched so many and will be missed, but her memory will live in our hearts forever. Thank you, Joan, for being my friend, said Mayor Ed Mayne. Joan passed away last evening in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with her best friend and niece by her side. Our sincere condolences to Joan’s family and her many friends.

In January, the RDN will transfer ownership of District 69 arena to the City. The arena was built by the RDN in Parksville Community Park in the early 1970s and... used as a public arena for three decades. A new lease between the City and the Curling Club will replace existing leases. The City looks forward to working directly with our local curling club for the ongoing operation of the facility. An aerial inspection will be completed on five trees and a resisto...graph (tree x-ray) will be used to inspect trunk anomalies on two additional trees. Vehicles may experience minor access restrictions while the work is underway. See more
