Did you know that the majority of people with osteoarthritis (OA) do not need a joint replacement? Most people with mild to moderate OA can control their symptoms with education, exercise, and weight control (if necessary) with the assistance of a physiotherapist. Some people may require analgesic medication (pain killers), a walking aid or other treatments provided by a physiotherapist (LASER, TENS, etc). If all other treatment has failed, surgery is an option. However, it is important to realise that after surgery all of the other treatments will have to be done anyway (exercise, pain killers, gait aids, etc) so why not try those treatments first?

Pain in the neck and shoulders can limit us in so many ways! With Acupuncture we can decrease tension, pain and inflammation. In Chinese Medicine the theory behind pain is that our Qi, or vital energy, is stuck in the channels. Much like a traffic jam on a highway the qi is stuck and creates pain in the area of injury, or the drivers get frustrated! It can also cause deficiency of Qi along the rest of the affected meridian or channel. When we are in pain we restrict our mov...ement, and our nervous system gets heightened. Stress can be high, sleep can be disrupted, and we may also get other pains or weakness. Through the use of Acupuncture, Tui Na (Chinese Massage techniques) and cupping we can increase circulation, move qi in the channel, and alleviate pain. Essentially getting traffic moving, and calming all the drivers down. Health and balance are considered the free flow of qi within the body. If your body is out of balance in one area, others may soon be compromised as well. Address pain and bring your qi flow back to balance, allowing you to heal with the support of Acupuncture. Our in house Acupuncturist is available to see you and looking forward to getting you back to a life you love. Pain free and balanced in health.
