You might be shocked to learn that drinking lots of your favourite pop may have the same damaging effects on your teeth as illegal drugs! A 2013 study found that both have similar strong corrosive effects on teeth. Erosion happens when acid wears away tooth enamel (the glossy, protective outside layer of the tooth). Without enamel, teeth are more at risk of developing cavities. Citric acid (found in regular AND diet pop) is likely to cause tooth erosion.... What can you do if you drink lots of pop? Help us help you by "cleaning up" on the regular. Not just the day were going to see you (we also remember SPRINTING to hide away our toys when we heard our parents car pull up), but hopefully many times before then! As always, building habits can be hard but its worth it in the end! Start small with one or two times per week until it becomes second nature! ___... : Take your length of floss and wrap it around your preferred fingers, leaving an inch or two between to manipulate with your thumbs Slide the floss between your teeth and wrap it into a "C" shape around the base of the tooth and gently under the gumline, making sure to keep the floss taught Wipe the tooth from base to tip two or three times; remember to floss both sides of the tooth. Dont forget the backs of your last molars If you havent flossed in a while, remember that your gums may bleed a little - this should go away in a couple of days. If it doesnt, send us a message! Never put floss in the toilet as it can lead to blockages, and we definitely dont need it out in the waterways; always put it in the bin!

Its International Kissing Day Did you know those with increased saliva flow have an easier time fighting off tooth decay? While its definitely not as effective as brushing and flossing, kissing can generate saliva which may prevent tooth decay! Saliva helps clean the mouth and assists in removing those sneaky cavity-causing food particles that can build-up after eating

We love that you feel comfortable bringing your friends or family to see us, but during the pandemic, we do ask that to come to your appointment alone. We dont like to deprive anyone of support so Mum or Dad bringing their child, or accompanying caregivers are A-OK
