Hello everyone! FoodARC is looking for study participants who currently study or work at the Mount. Please see a letter and a poster attached. Thank you! ------ Hi there!... My name is Ksenia Kholina and I am writing to invite you to participate in a research study I am conducting as an intern with the Food Action Research Centre (FoodARC). This study is part of a dietetic internship I am completing with Dr. Patty Williams at FoodARC. It will help to inform the evaluation of a knowledge sharing tool, a board game called The Hand You’re Dealt, that our team at FoodARC has developed, as well as to inform future research related to this. I am conducting preliminary research into whether this tool can be a vehicle for teaching people who play it about the experience of food insecurity and their views on this. The FoodARC team and our partners are interested in understanding anticipated and unanticipated outcomes related to the experience of playing the board game. The study involves coming to MSVU on Wednesday, August 1st at 2 pm or Thursday, August 2nd at 10 am or on Friday, August 3rd at 5 pm for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. You will be notified of the location prior to the date. We will introduce you to FoodARC’s research and to The Hand You’re Dealt. You will then play the game in small groups, which will take approximately 45 minutes, followed by a group reflective discussion about the experience of playing the game. The discussion portion of the session will be audio recorded. You will also be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire 1 day before, and again 1 day after the research session. If you would like to provide us any additional feedback, you will also have an opportunity to come for an individual interview. Refreshments will be provided. You will also get a chance to win a small prize. If you are interested and able to attend one of the sessions, please email me at [email protected]. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this study. Thanks! Ksenia
