Christmas sessions are happening next weekend. I had a few delays getting them set this year with Covid, securing an indoor space, and keeping myself healthy to hold the sessions. Sessions are 20 minutes long and spaced out every half hour to allow sanitizing between sessions. Wedding season was short this summer, with one special day to capture. Their big wedding plans are moved to next year for a big celebration with friends and family, but they still kept their date and had a special backyard ceremony at the brides parents house. I've enjoyed capturing this family and their milestones for years now. We always do a first birthday cake smash for the kids. The little lady dosen't always enjoy pictures with cake. Her session had her big brother stealing her icing, this recent session included her little brother getting icing on her leg. I am very much missing wedding season this year and looking back at previous years and last years weddings makes me so excited for next season now. I was in New Brunswick working when we were hit with a big snow day. I was staying at my parents house and told my brother to stop by quick, toss some warm sweaters in so we could take a few quick shots in the snow. It took about 5 minutes to capture a great set of images for them. My youngest nephew wanted nothing to do with tossing snow around, as you will see with him standing with arms crossed now wanting to cover his dad in snow. He also didn't get the whole blow the sno...w towards me, but it was still super cute. I will be offering winter session in the snow this winter as well as some great pictures on the lake I live in once it all freezes up. After a 10 hour sleep I am waking up thinking about the 24 hour workday from yesterday and the one day adventure to Disney with Dreams Take Flight and a group of 140 wonderful kids and an amazing group of volunteer chaperones. My heart is burting at the memeories I have made and watching how a group of people came together to offer these kids such a fun day and I won't be forgetting how many of these kids touched my day. I enjoyed having my hand grabbed and lead off to some r...ides and visiting princess's, experiencing that throught their eyes and capturing it in pictures for them to remember. Having close relathionships with my clients often gives me the opportunity to be apart of some incredible experiences, yesterday was one of those days. There are nights when all of the most perfect conditions meet up. This night was one of them. The tide was out, a huge storm that dropped hail and massive amounts of rain earlier had left the area and the sunset we had was incredible and for about 5 minutes the sky was in fire. I love old photography and it's history. I have been looking for one of these Stereoscopes for years. I've had a stack of pictures to view on one for so long waiting. I found this treasure as well as a big collection of images at a little shop in my hometown this weekend. I may have let out a squeal of happy when I saw it sitting there waiting for me. This one has a patent date stamp from July 14th 1881. The pictures I have are dated from 1872 to about 1895. One of my favourite times of day to take pictures is when it gets dark. The bride and I planned this image a year before the wedding and it was exciting for us all to have it come to creation. The gorgeous Halifax waterfront falls into the distance behind them and also involved me getting up onto Martins shoulders to get tall enough to see over the edge of the building.
