Did you know that it’s free for your kids (including older children!) to write a letter to Santa? The magical part is that he will write back if he receives your letter by December 10th. This is a free service that Canada Post heads up every year! All you need to do is: write your letter. (There are a few templates in the photos attached if you need help!)... Address it to Santa - no stamp needed, and include your return address for a reply. Sleepovers aren’t just for girls! It was super fun to set up this camping style sleepover with a snack table, antlers filled with soda bottles, a pumpkin carving activity and of course custom loot bags fit for a 9 year old. The cooler weather has us ready to store the big tent, but we can still accommodate indoor sleepovers!

This is one of our favorite games to play with the kids while we’re hosting. We call it donut races but it’s SUPER entertaining and there’s been a party or two in the past where the parents have gotten in on the challenge too. (You’ve not lived until you’ve heard kids cheering their parents on in a little donut eating butt kicking of other parents ) Sticky faces are a guarantee, but so is the giggling and sweet sweet bragging rights that victory brings. We’re getting ready to book some very special deliveries in Niagara! Our Ice Queen & Gotham Hero will arrive time deliver a mini pumpkin and some fun pumpkin decorating gear plus pose for photos and create an epic surprise for your Halloween hyped littles! Halloween Alternative # 3 OUTDOOR MOVIES There are sooo many family themed Halloween movies and TONS of fun treats that you can make ahead and pre package for your guests that it’s hard to resist this memorable and lazy evening ... You can rent an inflatable screen for around $500 or you can make one with a fence or garage door and a discount store white flat sheet. Projectors can often be borrowed from friends or offices and amazon has some pretty cool options for about $100! Seating is also super easy - sports style folding chairs or blankets and pillows. Want to do something extra fun? Purchase cardboard boxes and paper plates, markers and stickers and let kids create their own drive in car to watch from (see our last slide). Rather than going door to door have each family attending create a prepackaged Halloween themed snack and now you have the coolest concession stand EVER (just make sure you clearly label those grown up drinks Benefits are: you know and trust your guest list and are confident in the care they will take in screening their families and making snacks you can easily make this a costume wearing event. This is crazy memorable and no one will miss going door to door The drawbacks: weather is a factor - but consider parking your butts in the garage rather than the car or groups of borrowed tents can help you prepare for the worst you’ll need space for distancing families you’ll need an technology person for troubleshooting (I am NOT that person lol) We can help you with sourcing vendors, decorating or organizing if it’s not your thing so don’t feel overwhelmed at the thought of putting this together :) Message us here for more information and stay tuned for more Halloween alternatives coming soon!

THE TRUNK OR TREAT! This is our second alternative for the traditional Halloween and one of my absolute favorites You’ll want to gather your group of participants and agree on a start time. Everyone decorates their trunk as a place to hand out Halloween treats OR incorporate an activity with prizes. I’ve included some examples to spark your imagination ... You’ll also need an area to park all together. Examples can be: Private fields Church parking lots Empty community centers Empty mall parking Along your street Keep in mind that you’ll want to ask permission to use these places and make sure you’re following any city by-laws. No one wants to go through the set up trouble and then leave candy-less! Another note on safety: Trunk or treats can very quickly turn into Tailgating with treats so make sure you’re partying safe The benefits are: An awesome outdoor socially distanced party with friends & family kids can still trick or treat (pre packaged candy and prizes are best!) you can show off your mad Halloween decorating skills and dress up yourself Planning ahead means you can do this on a date other than Halloween Saturday! The downsides: finding a location that agrees to host outdoor events means planning for weather changes like cold, rain and wind (bye-bye balloons!) not having designated drivers or the temptation to ignore bylaws While you’ll still need an organized person to make all your arrangements, this one is just plain worth the trouble. Kids and parents are all bound to have fun and I promise you’ll consider doing it again even if the world shifts back to the *old normal* Have you not heard an alternative that you like yet? Halloween Alternative # 1 NEIGHBORHOOD PARADE This one works best of you are friends with your neighbors - or if you want to be!- You will need a person to act as organizer; who can drop off fliers and talk with other parents on your street to arrange a time for it to begin.... The benefits are: every family stays distanced sitting in lawn chairs while the kids can proudly show off their costumes. you can decide as a neighborhood if you’re choosing to hand out candy (consider grab and go pre-packaged candies at a station if you are!) All children can participate regardless of mobility issues Downsides are: make sure you can safely block off your street or sidewalk for this it does require an organized person to schedule everything in rain and bad weather is a factor - so be ready! While the rules for the events game changed yet again right in the middle of set up the family was very understanding and created a solution that fit their celebration! Happy last day of school! We wanted to take a moment to congratulate all of the graduates out there. We've watched on social media and in person as family & friends have rallied around grads from kindergarten and grade 8 to high school and post secondary and we wanted to say thank you and recognize the hard work and dedication of these students. We'd actually like to recognize all students on their efforts this year! ... In our home we've watched University students, a high schooler and a grade 5 adjust to a school year that's felt about 5oo months long and we are so proud of all of them, not to mention the teachers who supported them through it all. So it just happens to be Katie's 2 year anniversary with us! Katie's been an important part of our family and puts her heart into both her character work and the other staff. Her title here with us is Character, Wig Master and Vocalist Extraordinaire and since the day she's started we considered her family.... Her passion is acting and you can tell she is studying that in school and clearly excels at that but she would also love to become a hair supervisor and work on wigs all day for a theater company. She's always bettering herself through work speaking out about anxiety/depression and body image and she's been to New York City to study under Broadway professionals. She's constantly working on her vocals and reaches out to our staff (some of whom she's helped to hire!) and offers to share her resources and talents. Katie is amazing with children as well. We often have repeat families asking specifically for her and your heart melts when you see the kids hug her with all their might! A tiny shout out to the three ladies who've inspired her to be who she is now; her amazing Mama, her amazing mentor, and an extremely talented lady with whom share a hometown. We miss working with Katie and we're so happy that she's still making kids happy from a far through video, facetime calls and live dance classes! Katie thanks for being wonderful and amazing you, you make our little company stand out
