Be a Pasadena Hydrant Hero! Fire hydrant snow removal is critical because firefighters must be able to identify and quickly access a fire hydrant in the event of a fire emergency. During the winter months, snow encapsulated and obstructed fire hydrants delay firefighting efforts. PFR is asking for the assistance of Pasadena residents to help us by making sure that the fire hydrants in your neighbourhood are cleared of snow.... To help us, take a picture of you or your family helping make the hydrant accessible and post it below in the comments and we’ll randomly select winners for prizes over the winter months! Remember, clearing snow from fire hydrants could save a life, maybe even yours. Thank you for your effort and support Pasadena Hydrant Hero’s!

As we all reflect on this past year, this year-end post from PFR provides reflects on the commitment and dedication of our firefighters and community at large. During the past year, PFR completed 39 regular weekly training sessions and 12 monthly truck and equipment inspections, amounting to approximately 3200 person hours of training by our firefighters. In addition to our weekly training sessions, members have also attended an equivalent of 192 days of training courses on e...venings, weekends and holidays. PFR undertook a major fundraising campaign this past year to acquire and equip a water rescue craft to help us more effectively respond to waterborne incidents. In total, we raised approximately $67,000 with the support of everyone who purchased tickets and those individuals and businesses that aided in the successful outcome of the campaign. Thank-you to each and everyone of you who supported this effort and we can’t wait to show you the new equipment! There are so many other memorable moments in 2021 (thankfully we have FaceBook to remind us of these) but in closing, we’d like to highlight an accomplishment achieved by so few from a volunteer capacity. This past year marks Firefighter Wally Spontaneo 40th year of service!!!! Wally was recognized at our recently held Firefighter Ball for his commitment to our Department and our communitycongratulations, well done sir and we’ll see you again at training on Wednesday nightthe Energizer Bunny’s got nothing on youyou keep going and going and going! The departure of this year will welcome so many new memoriesplease stay safe, practice fire prevention in your everyday life and remember to call 911 if you have an emergencyHappy New Years!

Pasadena Elementary is having a Jersey day at school today, and Captain Adam Garcin’s daughter chose to wear a softball Jersey from the 70s, that Pasadena Fire Fighter’s softball team sported. To add to this story her grandfather and previous PFR member Clarence Wagg had worn the #7 jersey back then, and has since retired from the Pasadena Fire Department in 1992 after serving 20 years. She sure is so proud to wear it today as her smile certainly shows.
