In my experience, as long as a request is presented to a horse fairly, accurately and with consideration for the horses level of preparation and development, a ...horse will rarely disappoint you. If you’re not getting what you’re looking for, there is a good reason, however, if you keep nagging, keep pushing for more and won’t take a closer look at what your horse needs from you, you will just teach your horse resistance and resentment. Slow down, take a closer look at their experience, their equipment, their health, their feet... Take a closer look at yourself, your balance, your presentation and your attitude. Once you’ve addressed whatever it is that’s blocking you or your horses progress, the energy can flow freely and unless you’ve given your horse a reason not to try for you, they will show you things you didn’t know they knew.
