Did you know that it’s #WorldCocktailDay today?! Well, if you didn’t... now ya do! Here’s a super simple recipe you can make to mark the occasion ELETTARIA MULE 2oz Elettaria spiced gin 0.5oz fresh lime juice... Ginger beer Combine these three ingredients in a tall glass with plenty of ice, sip and enjoy! As it happens, this makes for a great summer beverage to enjoy in the sunshine. You can pick up all the ingredients you need to make this direct from the distillery or by ordering online. And a heads up that we are open for retail sales, both online for curbside pick up, in person if you have questions, and for delivery (free over $50 within the Winnipeg city limits). A little cocktail history for you though this is called a Mule, it’s actually belongs to the Buck family of cocktails. Similar to a Collins but employing ginger beer (or ale) instead of soda water. Buck cocktails originated in the 1890s and it’s thought that the Dark & Stormy was the granddaddy of this cocktail family. CLOVER CLUB A tart and juicy classic gin cocktail made with London Dry, white vermouth, fresh raspberry syrup, lemon juice, @bettersbitters vegan foamer ... RHUBARB & ROSEMARY GIMLET A fruity and herbal twist on the classic gimlet, complete with a chocolate finish. London Dry, rhubarb & rosemary cordial, citric acid and @bettersbitters chocolate bitters GIN FIZZ A light and floral fizz style beverage with the addition of lavender and rose. Purple Blossom Gin, lavender syrup, lemon juice, rose water, @bettersbitters vegan foamer REGAL REVEL (large format) We brought this back from the archives! A lightly bittersweet, tropical punch with a gently spicy and vegetal finish. Elettaria spiced gin, Aperol, Campari, spiced mango syrup, hot pepper shrub, lime juice SUGAR HONEYSUCKLE ICED TEA (large format) A light and herbaceous iced tea that’s perfect for balmy evenings in the sunshine. If you’re picking up a bottle and you’re looking for a tasty mixer, we’ve added some Fentimans mixers to our shop. Available individually or as a part of a pack these are just our recommended combinations but you can pair ‘em however ya like ‘em!... Find them on our web store or ask in person when you’re stopping by for a curb side pick up. Fancy making yourself a little Sunday Funday cocktail?! Back in the summer we put together a kit to make this tasty purple cocktail using items we carry in our shop and web store. We’ll be bringing back kits for the winter for the holidays, and also for those of you who would like to try your hand at making cocktails at home but aren’t quite sure where to begin.... We carry a whole selection of carefully curated, high quality cocktail ingredients to stock up your home bar, or perhaps pick up some stocking stuffers for your cocktail-loving pals. PURPLE PUNCH To make this drink, you’ll need: 2oz Purple Blossom Gin 1oz fresh lime juice 0.75oz @bgreynolds Gardenia Mix* 1 dash of @bittermens orange cream citrate 1 dash of @bettersbitters vegan foamer Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake hard for 15 seconds and strain into a stemmed cocktail glass. *Gardenia Mix is a coconut-based syrup flavoured with honey, allspice and cinnamon [image description: a hazy, purple-coloured cocktail with a layer of white foam on top is served in a delicate cocktail glass with a swirly stem.]

We are so lucky here in Manitoba to have a small but mighty industry of craft distillers, brewers, cider producers and winemakers to choose from when supporting local. Ever wondered what each of these plates in our still does? Well, when we’re making vodka, each plate acts a distillation as alcohol vapours pass through to reach the condenser at the end. First to pass through is the really nasty stuff that we call fores. Next to follow is the heads, that’s what can give vodka that unpleasantly familiar varnish/hairspray taste and smell. Then comes the good stuff the hearts. Hearts cuts are smooth and flavourful; and because we only p...ut the good stuff into our vodka, what we taste coming off the still is really no different than what you taste in the bottle! The last thing left in the still is what we call tails. This part is pretty harmless, but you’d recognize tails by a sort of damp cardboard aroma (or some people think they smell like socks or wet dog!). A little update for you all... NEW BAR HOURS: FRIDAY-SATURDAY 4-10PM SUNDAY-THURSDAY CLOSED... RETAIL HOURS: MONDAY-FRIDAY 10AM-4PM While we are all being encouraged to stay home, cozy and safely tucked up to reduce the spread of COVID, we have decided to reduce our hours of operation in the tasting room. We’ll be open as usual Friday & Saturday for dine in and cocktails to-go pickups and orders on the fly. Otherwise, you’ll need to preorder through our website. We’ll be reviewing this as things progress and will be back to normality when it is safe and sensible to do so, but for now this is the best course of action. Happy Thanksgiving from us to you! We hope you’ve managed to spend some quality time (safely) with your loved ones. Phew, 2020 has been quite a year but we have plenty to be thankful for in spite of this wild ride. Hey Winnipeg you’ve probably already brushed up on the news, but just in case you missed it... Starting tonight, we’ll be closing a little earlier than usual. Last call will be at 9:45, and we’ll have to turf you out by 11pm at the absolute latest. You can purchase retail bottles and cocktails to-go until 11pm to take home and pop in the fridge for later enjoyment Please remember to wear a mask when visiting us. This means when you enter the building, and any time you ge...t up from your table, please ensure you’re suitably masked up. Maximum group size for us at the moment is six. We can’t wait to have larger groups back when it is safe to do so. We’ll review this regularly. If you aren’t feeling keen on the idea of dining in, we have plenty of tasty cocktails to-go that can be preordered from our website (or if you fancy giving us a call, we can prepare them for you during bar open hours). Punch lovers! And would-be punch lovers! A little reminder that we offer a variety of our cocktails in to-go form. There was a little confusion when we first launched cocktails to-go, so just a little recap of how it all works... Picture the scene: you’re finishing up a hard day of working from home, you may not be feeling comfortable with the idea of paying us a visit but you’re longing for a tasty cocktail that you couldn’t make yourself at home. You see this post and thi...nk wow, if only I could order that lovely pink punch and do a curbside pick-up... Good news! You can order online and arrange pick-up, or even delivery if you live in the Winnipeg area. These can be ordered along with other items we carry in our online store. We have a number of individual cocktails plus some larger format punches. We make them all fresh, and they’ll keep for a week if stored in the fridge. The labels come complete with ingredients, ABV, suggested serving instructions and production date. "I've been watching you from here. This place is called the gateway to the starry sky..." Tried the Rosalina punch bowl yet?! It’s been popping off since we put it on our menu alongside the Super Princess Peach punch. Both fruity, one tropical and one peachy they were named after characters from Super Mario!... A handful of you caught the reference, and while the colours may correspond to the characters in question... that wasn’t the original reason. Both of ‘em contained saké, a Japanese beverage made of fermented rice, which is pretty hard to come by at the moment due to the pandemic. We had to make some changes to the recipe for this punch so it took on it’s namesake character’s colours and completed the pairing or Princess Peach and Rosalina. The more you know!
