Wow where did the year go?!? It was around this time last year we were finishing up this huge project! When Rob Mackenzie aka Chief, owner of Chief’s Pub & Eatery in Sylvan, asked Patinaed to give his bar a makeover we jump at the opportunity! ... Giving Patinaed Carte blanch on the design, material and overall vibe we made the design decision & objectives; declutter, add some unique levels & update the atmosphere with rustic & warm features. Its been a long time coming for this post. With every renovation there is an interesting story behind it! Please join us in our latest adventure! Rob Mackenzie aka Chief owner of Chief’s Pub & Eatery on lakeshore drive in Sylvan Lake celebrated 20 years in business this past June. In the mist of these unforeseen times we are facing Chief took advantage when unessential businesses were forced to shut down due to COVID19 and did renovations! Patinaed was apart of this huge p...roject and it was amazing!! With some additional renovation projects he kept some of his staff employed as well as local contractors, plus Chief put his own sweat and tears, into this makeover. It was time to add a fresh updated look at the centre point of his establishment, the bar! Patinaed was given Carte blanch on the design, material and overall vibe! With the objective to declutter, add some unique levels and rustic warm materials, making this family friendly environment more inviting and relaxing. *Starting with demolition we took this right down to the bare walls, gutting behind the bar from floor to ceiling. *Replacing the old school mirrored bar wall with rusted steel panels incased in cedar wood. This backdrop was the start of a epic atmosphere *Carrying the cedar on to the back wall, up & over the bar adding life, a sense of height, width and cohesiveness to this space. *The cedar ceiling has flush mounted pot lights for closing time and cool hanging single steam Edison bulbs for that classic evening atmosphere we all love! *To complete the bar custom live-edge wood shelves ... of course! The corners came together at a 45 degree angle making the seam flow naturally. *A classy add, dadoed the lighting underneath the shelves - hidden away so all you see is the light not the hardware! *Black pipe linked and supported the shelves continuing the industrial look. The bar has TV/ security system at the end of the bar that was a bit of a mess with wires everywhere. This was an opportunity to clean this up and create a custom design ! *We incorporated the security system with a wine rack. A wine rack was not present before and Rob wanted to start offering bottled wine. You can see the wine rack leads up to the TV and no wires to be seem only clean lines! A few other complementary renovations we took part in; under neither cabinets,pull out glass trays, stainless steel counter tops, and a live-edge gate for bar entry. A favourite feature done to-date! There were whites & neutral colors picked for the walls, cabinets & counter top for a reason!! Picking these handmade tiles for the backsplash in this space was easy & the perfect pop of color! The unique Moroccan tiles came a long away & totally worth it! Just look how amazing these are; rustic, perfect imperfections, one of a kind & the brilliant color! Adding under cabinet lighting was the icing on the cake! Check out this reconstruction!
