For every $2,000.00 of art sold I will be giving $400.00 to @covenanthousebc who take care of homeless and at-risk youth providing them with safe self-isolation shelter, food and clothing. The Downtown area is one of the most vulnerable for COVID-19 as it is extremely difficult to practice social distancing and isolation. Covenant House is on the front lines in providing a high level of safety and security for these homeless teenagers and young adults. ~ As the far reaching consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic can be felt throughout the globe, it is the most vulnerable members of our communities who are most effected. Now is the time to support one another in every way we can. Owning original can enrich our lives and support our communities during these extremely challenging times. Thank you for supporting this Pledge! ~ In my summer break between first and second year of my Interior Design schooling I went on a Seine Fishing boat from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert travelling on the Inside Passage of British Columbia. One of the stops for gas was Bella Coola, a small village, home of the Nuxalk people and a former Hudson’s Bay trading Post. We hiked up to a pristine lake behind the village for a day of canoeing. The water was as clear as glass and a beautiful mist hung in the surrounding old growth forest even though it was a hot summer day. After all these years the beauty and majesty of this virgin wilderness still lingers in my memory. I felt very close to Emily Carr 1871-1945, as I was painting this scene and attempting to capture the scale and magnitude that exists in this expanse of nature. Emily Carr often said that her biggest challenge was how to paint this largeness and the spirit of Canada. www.patriciagrayart.com ~

I designed this slipper chair as a tribute to the #iconic #decorator Billy Baldwin. Baldwin designed it with Pauline de Rothschild's tall, lean frame in mind thus making it easier for her to strike a pose and extend her long legs. Baldwin's was originally skirted to the floor.
