This morning, not unlike many mornings in the late spring and summer, I woke up nice and early and went to Gyro Beach to meet a friend for a swim in the lake. All summer my friend Erica and I have met at the lake around 6 am and it has been very brisk at times and quite pleasant at other times. The constant though has been just how stunning our beautiful city is with its mountain and lake views literally everywhere. Okanagan lake is clear, fresh and peaceful. At 6:00 a.m., th...e serene lake is matched by the peaceful atmosphere with the only noise being that of other fitness and outdoor enthusiasts taking in the magnificence of the day. I know, I sound melodramatic! But honestly, I feel truly blessed and grateful to live here in the Okanagan. The other morning, the sun hadn’t even come up yet, and Erica and I were wading into the water in the dusky light and a family of ducks swam along beside us an arm's length away. It was an awesome reminder that it is the simple little sights, sounds, and pleasures in life that can make a day truly amazing. We are surrounded by beauty living here and sometimes we just need to slow down to admire it When we moved here in 2003, Dale and I often asked each other when, or if, we would ever forget or take for granted just how beautiful the Okanagan is. When would we get sick of the view driving into Kelowna from the West Side? The answer is that I don’t think we ever will. The most appropriate word for our city is STUNNING! The following photos are just a few of my absolute favorites that depict our city the way it truly is. My hope for everyone is that they get up early enough to enjoy what each day in the Okanagan has to offerrain or shine!
