Update to my last post about mortgages insurance on buildings.Direct from CMHC - see message below. No we have not changed our policy. This is most likely only for the other insurers.CMHC will still review a condo purchase that allow short term rentals as long as:The clients intent is to either occupy the home as a primary residence or use as a secondary home. (only one homeownership insured with CMHC)They do not intend on renting out the property. This has been confirmed/documented in the file. If there is any rental pool the client can and will opt out as per above point #2. We don’t insure properties in rental pool so the property will have to be out of rental pool before or by the closing date.

Attn Short term rental Buyers: CHMC and GE are no longer insuring mortgages on buildings that allow Short Term Rentals. Even if you're a first time buyer and plead it’s for personal use you will be declined. Thought this would be valuable information for those that own units in Resort buildings including Big White and or working with buyers with less than 20% down. Cheers
