Why not get your kilt on when you get your skates on?
The Great Canadian Kilt Skate is taking place from December 31 to February 28! Put on your favourite tartan clothing, grab your skates and Scottish Spirit and s...kate anywhere you'd like (as long as it's safe to do so)! Post a picture to social media and use the tags #kiltskate2021WPG #SASOW #OttScott #ScotlandIsNow and we have a chance to become Canada’s Kilt Skate Capital. Canadian Multiculturalism Day is a day to celebrate Canada’s diversity and to recognize the contributions of the ethnocultural groups that make up Canadian soci...ety. Many early settlers in Manitoba were Scottish, including William Brown, owner of the 1856 Red River Frame House. Lol... one take on where Highland dress came from...
The Pavilion of Scotland acknowledges our friends in the Indigenous community and show our respect in remembering them on Orange Shirt Day.
Gotta say, I love this story. So glad that Glasgow is in the lead of establishing a tartan to include the Muslim community of Scotland. My grandfather Charlie ...Angus worked in Glasgow at a time of brutal religious sectarianism. He hated the divisions. I was taught by the Protestant and Catholic side of my Scottish family of the values of inclusiveness. It guides me. Then let us pray that come it may, (As come it will for a' that,) That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth, That Man to Man, the world o'er, Shall brothers (and sisters) be for a' that.
With the World Pipe Band Championships done, now to focus on the World Highland Dance Championships at Cowal this weekend. Best of luck to all the Manitoba dancers that will be competing in the qualifying rounds tomorrow!
If you liked what you saw & heard at this year's Pavilion, remember that the various Highland Dance schools and Pipe Bands are now accepting registration for the fall.
Here's an interesting fact about the flag of Scotland...

Just a good pun, especially during Folklorama week. I'm sure this applies to more than a few of our volunteers or guests.
