Glen, Kathy and their three sons adopted a puppy through Paws a few months ago, but much as they loved him, it wasn’t meant to be. You see, one of the family members developed an allergy to the pup, so it just wasn’t going to work. BUT patience pays off and sweet Pelusa (now Lexie) who joined us from Mexico changed their fortunes. A very sweet, cuddly puppy who enjoys lots of activity then cuddles on the couch now has a family of 5 to call her own. We call that good fortune all around! Fall is a time for new beginnings, and we have some new beginnings to announce at Paws. Krista Bulmer and Lisa Ugolini, two of Paws founders, have stepped down as Directors. They, together with Maria Robson and Lisa Ferguson who stepped down previously, did a phenomenal job building a rescue that has given hundreds of dogs a new life. Paws initially brought dogs from Greece but then expanded its reach to assist dogs from several countries as well as local shelter dogs. Every... dog is still remembered and loved, and every adopter update enjoyed. The founders have done it all: fostering, going on airport and shelter runs, managing volunteers, fundraising and troubleshooting. So many stories to tell! We want to offer our gratitude to the four founders for making Paws the wonderful organization it is today. Barbara Harrison joined Paws a couple of years ago, and for the last year has been leading operations. She and Marlene Collins, who has oodles of experience volunteering with rescues, are now at the helm of Paws, working alongside Aly Smith (Treasurer) and a wonderful team of volunteers. Were excited to build on our past, and pave the way for new initiatives in the future. Over the last year we established new relationships with rescuers in Canada, US, Mexico, Korea, Antigua, Egypt, and Iran and continued supporting our existing rescue partners. COVID threw us a few curve balls, but weve kept taking dogs and finding them the best homes we can. Weve had a tremendous response to requests for donations, and our volunteer base is growing.which means we can help more dogs. So while some of the people have changed, Paws will continue on as before; we'll be incorporating some new ideas but with the same underlying values. We're happily entering the next phase of this doggy adventure. We love that you're alongside us.

Everyone remember Blazer? This stud came from our first Manitoba trip with a bullet or stab wound on his shoulder. After time to heal, he found his furever family. Needless to say, he is thriving! Last night we welcomed several pups from Antigua into our care. This involved an incredible and coordinated effort with several rescues. Our amazing volunteers worked into the wee hours of the morning getting these dogs from the airport and to their foster homes. We are so grateful to have the most amazing volunteers and fosters whose dedication is truly humbling. Once we get to know these pups we will be posting them for adoption so please stay tuned! Great news!! Rocket (Foguete) is adopted! This amazing boy was rescued after being abandoned at the side of a highway. He then lived in a shelter with hundreds of other dogs until he came to Canada to find his happily ever after. Lucky for Rocket, everyone who meets him adores him. It wasnt long before Nancy and Michael also fell in love and decided to make Rocket a part of their family. Now Rocket will enjoy an active life hiking through ravines then settling in for a long ...night of chin scratches and cuddles.
