Cute before and after photos from some recent grooms!! Meet Mitzi, the Pomeranian. Most owners are recommended not to shave a double coated dog, as it can damage the coat; this is true, a very short haircut can damage the follicle. This little lady has had a very short cut before, and her coat has been damaged before, so we gave her a 1/2 cut instead. While easy to maintain, it does not damage the coat, and will protect her from the heat and sun. Meet Joey! Joey is a mix bre...ed, probably Yorkshire terrier, and often has a long LONG coat. This coat does NOT do well while camping, so he got an updated cut for his new summer adventures. Thanks for letting us serve you!

Exploring and using instincts are encouraged on our adventures! Beagle - naturally nosey dogs, white tip on their tail is a flag that waves when they indicate they found some thing. Keeshond - A natural vermin Hunter, the breed is known for hunting rats on barges and in farms.... Every breed has a job, and these two were no strangers to nosing around! #digging #tracking #searchparty #beagle #keeshond #groupdogwalking

You’re welcome Felix! Did you know that cats LOVE cat grass? Despite being obligate carnivores (they have to eat meat to obtain essential amino acids, the building blocks for muscles), cats love to snack on cat grass for a few reasons: - Folic acid, which aids the bloodstream - Natural laxative, especially for hairballs... - A tasty deterrent for cats who chew (houseplants or cords) What is Cat Grass? Basically, cat grass is either oat, wheat, or barley grass. You can find kits at your local pet store or get your own seeds and do it DIY. #happycat #catgrass #yumyum

Have you ever thought to yourself, I wonder if it’s too cold for a walk? If you have, this handy guide from PetPlan may help you determine how cold is too cold. They recognize that every dog is different, and no Great Dane is going to tolerate the same temperatures a Siberian Husky may tolerate. Today’s weather, at 10:30 am, is -3C, with a windchill making it feel like -8; it’s also quite wet (86% Humidity).... For a naked Great Dane, we probably wouldn’t walk, but if we can put boots and a jacket on, we will do a short walk. The rating is about 3-4, and wet weather increase it to 5-6. For a naked Siberian Husky, we should have no issue. The rating is 3-4, and the dog is a northern breed, decreasing it to 2-3. Where does your dog fall?

What is your dogs poop telling you? Sure, every dog poops. But did you know that dog poop can be a great indicator of overall health and even help prevent some health issues down the road? The next time you’re out on a walk, try and decipher what your dogs poop is trying to tell you. The proof is in the poop!... (Adapted from an infographic, courtesy of Purina)

When a bird literally falls out of the sky at church, pet first aid kicks in. @walksnwagspetfirstaid This poor bird had the handle of a plastic bag wrapped - tightly - around its neck. Thankfully, I keep a big sheet in my first aid kit and I was able to cover the birds head and eyes while my husband cut the bag away from its neck. We calmed the bird and ensured it was alert, with all vitals normal (under the circumstances) providing water if needed. It flew away shortly after... we removed the sheet from its wings. For those of you bird lovers, this little guy or gal is an immature arctic tern. Usually, we see these birds with black caps on their head (which is how we can identify this one as immature). #arctictern #truesnowbird These birds breed in the arctic tundra of the Aleutians, Alaska and Northern Canada then fly to the Antarctic for the winter. I’m glad I was able to help this one travel safely. @audubonsociety

Meet Moose! When we first were asked to work with Moose, we were informed that he did not like new people and had to wear a muzzle. This loveable goofball has come leaps and bounds in the time we’ve known him, and today, he got to wear NO muzzle for his nail trim! Congrats mom, the hard work you have done is paying off!! #muzzlesareourfriends #bestfriendshavefur #greatpyrenees #greatpyreneesofinstagram #happydoglife

Like dogs, horses are highly social animals. Unlike some dogs, they *prefer* to live in a group. When the group gets separated, sometimes they become distraught (often the horse is described as herd-bound). This poor girl didn’t know what to do with herself, so we walked across the field. NOTE: It is not possible to form interspecies herds; humans are no part of a Horse herd hierarchy. #outforawalk #horsesofinstagram #justyouandme

Ways to celebrate National Pet Week #2 Take the time to give your pet an at-home 'physical.' Getting an appointment with a Veterinarian may be difficult right now so giving your pet a good once or twice-over can be a smart way to check your pet's health in the interim. Check the face: eyes, ears, nose or beak, and don't forget teeth! Look for anything unusual, including behavior. Your pet should be alert, and signs of pain could be a warning that something is wrong.... Check the body from toe to tip. Physically feel every inch of your pet and note any skin abnormalities. This is also a good time to check for ticks or fleas and the condition of the coat. Are the nails too long or cracked? Are any of the spinal joints sensitive? Are they having regular and healthy bowel movements (you don't have to physically check this one!)? Check your pet's overall physical health. Do they walk or run with a limp? Look at your pet from the sides or from the top-down, are they over/under weight? If you're unsure, you can easily search a description of the way your particular breed's body should be ideally shaped. Finally, give them a treat, do something fun, learn a new trick, whatever is a reward for them! This activity should not be used as an alternative to medical care from a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. PCWT hopes this can be a reminder to check on the wellness of your pet, and become aware of any abnormalities that may require professional attention.

Miss Ella hates the car ride that happens before her nails being done. So today we did a table work session before our walk, and after. Now nails predict walks, which means nails may become more normal and fun! #positiveassociation #premackprinciple

I saw this on Facebook and couldn’t resist sharing it. We all LOOVE those lines we’ve been standing in at the grocery store so much, that when you are able to see your groomer, this will be the new normal! Or you can avoid it, and book a bath and tidy before the lockdown ends. Yes, we CAN groom your pet from home. #mobilegrooming #coronalockdown #justatrim #nothingfancy

Despite COVID keeping us at home, there are some jobs that nobody wants to do. Scooping poop is one of those jobs. Prices for a Spring Clean Up $40 for the first bag* $25 for every bag* after... * A bag is roughly 30 lbs of nasty poop, hauled away and disposed. Our team takes safety measures to protect contamination between yards, such as spraying down equipment and utilizing fresh bags for every yard. If you’re interested in a weekly regular service, comment below and we can add your information to our growing list.
