Hard to get things done with these two demanding cuddles

The focus on formal obedience training often is an attempt to band-aid underlying issues that haven't been addressed. Animals have needs that must be met rang...ing from physical health, to enrichment, exercise, adequate sleep as a healthy diet. Emotional health is one of the biggest factors we should be addressing when looking at the organism as a whole. Anxiety and stress will topple the entire foundation on which you may be attempting to build behaviors on. This is further exacerbated the human need to control all aspects of our dog's lives. It's clear to me when I see a dog with unresolved issues but to some it may not be apparent as society glosses over and misinterprets animal behavior and body language. More accurate canine behavior information for the public and a push to shift the focus from obedience to wellness is a great start.
