I have to admit that we have a slight obsession with Peter This handsome boy is totally laid-back, super loyal to his person, and snores like a bear. He’s just happy being near you in a soft cosy bed and having the odd bone or toy to gnaw on Peter has had a rough life up and therefor has some weakness in his back legs. That does not stop him from running up and down the stairs, cruisin through the yard and being completely mobile ... Peter is being fostered in Squamish

Arriving this afternoon from sunny Tijuana are Tony, Troy, Eva, Luna and Aldo! All 5 are very doggy social and would do marvellous with a canine companion. We have not had a chance to test them as an only dog or with cats. These 5 will arrive nervous and confused and will be a prime example of the 3day-3week-3month rule ... Duke update: We would like to thank all of you who contributed to Dukes medical bill. We exceeded our goal and raised $850!!! The extra funds raised will be going to further treatment as the results from his appointment were not what we were expecting ... Sadly a tumour was discovered on Dukes penis which will require chemotherapy Duke will be heading back over the border on Wednesday morning to Tijuana where cancer treatment in dog’s is highly successful! It is also a more common procedure and at a substantial cost difference than here in BC. We are very optimistic Duke is going to make a full recovery Please send The Dukester pawsitive thoughts during this sensitive time We’ll keep you posted on his treatment and recovery

Our goofy boy Duke has run into an awkward issue with an infected penis Despite being on antibiotics for two weeks, the infection has not cleared up and he therefore has to be sedated while they do a thorough inspection and cleansing of the area. This procedure will cost close to $600 and must be paid by the end of the day tomorrow when we pick Mr. Duke up from his procedure ... This past weekend we welcomed 4 wonderful additions ADOPTED Rusty is a spunky, 8 month old terrier. He’s full of energy, awesome with other dog’s and good with kids! Rusty needs an active family that can wear him out Rusty is currently in North Vancouver and heading to Squamish on Tuesday ... Mister is a gorgeous 1yr old chihuahua mix that loves his walks and car rides! He’s shy when meeting someone new but warms up very quickly. He’s the best snuggle buddy, very quick to learn new tricks and loves other gentle and calm dog’s. He’s going to make a great companion for someone that loves the outdoors. Mister is currently in Squamish Adoption pending Sweet, calm and gentle Ella is very happy to be in a loving Vancouver foster home This poor girl was used as a breeding dog her entire life then dumped into a kill shelter. Until now she’s never known what a loving home or soft bed beneath her tired body has felt like. She’s suffered a flea allergy for many years and her teeth are worn down from chewing on her skin in an attempt to relieve the itching. Ella is severely underweight and needs to gain at least 15 lbs. She also had 5 mammary tumours removed when she was spayed last week. She walks slow, needs help with stairs and needs to gain some muscle mass which will help her become much more mobile Ella is one of those dog’s where your heart is going to be so full watching her transform into the playful and vibrant 5 yr old dog she should be Aside from everything this beautiful soul has been through, Ella longs for love and will gently curl up in her fosters lap. She’s absolutely precious and we are so happy to welcome her into our rescue Lexy is a sweet and gentle senior Shih Tzu who was dumped into a cold and scary kill shelter by her family. Their reason was Lexy was too old Lexy spent over one month in a small kennel feeling unloved and unwanted until we discovered she was there and immediately put a plan in place to get her out. Such a horrible act of betrayal from the ones that should protect and keep you safe, especially in your senior years . Sweet, ~8 yr old, 15 pound Angelito is finally ready for adoption!!! Angelito arrived in our care 1 month ago with a horrific injury to his jaw after neighbours in Tijuana witnessed Angelito being beaten and kicked so hard his lower jaw shattered X-rays also reviewed poor Angelito had suffered broken ribs in the past. I can’t even imagine the horrors this boy had been through He arrived needing reconstructive surgery on his jaw which took place 2 weeks ago by the wo...nderful Dr Armstrong at Eagleview Veterinary Hospital Despite Angelito missing most of his lower jaw, he is able to eat regular food and he even plays with toys on occasion Angelito loves his walks and exploring but because he has a slightly wobbly back leg, he walks at a slower pace. He’s incredibly sweet and glues onto women but a tad nervous around men. We think that with a gentle and understanding male, Jr will over come this. JR is good with cats and loves other dogs. We feel he should be him a home another confident canine pal and with older kids or an adult only home. Silly Miss Millie is looking for an active home This ~10 lb, 5-6 month old pug mix, walks well on a leash and loves to snuggle with her family members as well as other dogs Millie thinks she’s part cat as she loves to sit up in windowsills, the top of the cat post or anything she’s capable of climbing including the odd rooftop ... Update: Chance has now found a wonderful home that can give him all the love and attention he needs and deserves. Thank you all for your caring hearts and reaching out When 7 yr old, 44 lb Chance arrived in our care approximately one month ago, he was a happy and adventurous boy with a perma smile on his beautiful face In the past few weeks he’s been exhibiting some minor health concerns so we sent him to the vet for a complete physical which included bloodwork. We we...re shocked and saddened to hear that Chance has stage two kidney disease and has approximately one year to live We are now in search of a perfect home that can provide Chance with the palliative care he will require. This care will include a specialized diet of low sodium and soft food that will keep him from becoming dehydrated The perfect home for Chance will include a fenced in yard that he can easily access to avoid accidents indoors. It will also require someone that either works from home or is retired so Chance gets all the attention he deserves Chance absolutely loves going on hikes and long walks by the ocean. He gets along fantastic with other dogs, cats and every single person he meets He’s a favourite customer at the local pet store and makes new friends every time he leaves the house. He draws attention everywhere he goes with his unique and stunning spotted coat and gorgeous eye patch Chance is naturally quiet and subdued in the house and has only barked outdoors after being startled suddenly by a cyclist. We can honestly say that this boy is beyond perfect Whoever is able to provide Chance with a loving home will be showered in massive amounts of love and companionship that flows purely from this special boy Because Chance has limited life expectancy, there is no adoption fee for this love bug. Meet sweet little Buttons Buttons is approx. 10 years old and 12 pounds. This sweet little girl had the unfortunate life as a breeding dog. Her life was spent in a cage giving birth to litter after litter just so her human could profit from her misery Buttons spent most of her life not knowing what a loving touch was or what it was like to curl up on a warm and loving lap. When her breeding years were over, she was dumped into a family that didn’t know how to work with a... little dog that needs time, patience and understanding Despite everything she’s been through, this little senior is curious about her surroundings, walks well on leash, and is enjoying a loving touch She’s gaining more trust every day and even enjoys being picked up and carried around!!! In a brand new environment, Buttons will spend the first several days observing you and even running to a safe spot if you approach her quickly, but every day she learns to trust a little more Buttons has never tried to nip or bite anybody and her beautiful big eyes will watch you intensely. She’s a very good little girl and you can see that she’s longing to be loved. She is so deserving of a home that understands her needs. On Wednesday we had some special arrivals from Southern California. Please welcome 10 yr old Mickie, 4 yr old Snow and her bonded sibling ~5 yr old Sophie Mickey has already found himself the most amazing forever home. Snow will be having surgery this morning to have a mass removed from her abdomen and dental work. She and her sister will only be adopted together, because you just don’t separate family when they are bonded

Such an incredible transformation Trooper who was found trying to survive in the streets of Tijuana just two months ago will be making his way to BC this weekend Trooper is shy when he’s first meeting new people and other dogs, but we are so thrilled to see him coming out of his shell, playing with other dogs and now learning to play on his own with toys!!!... Our fabulous weekend arrivals are Chance, Tux and Benny! Chance is a beautiful cattle dog mix that is lucky enough to be going straight to a forever home when he arrives We are seeking foster and forever homes for good buddies Tux and Benny! ... Tux is an overweight terrier that is approximately 7 years old. This stocky 30 pound terrier needs to lose a good five or 6 pounds, so if you’re looking for some inspiration to hit the trails with an exercise buddy, Tux might be the one for you Tux has had blood work done and everything came back perfectly fine so there are no health issues with his added weight. He just needs to lose some poundage! He has a bit of an issue being picked up and will sometimes snap when his sensitive body is squeezed, but he is a master at stairs and ramps! Tux loves going for long walks and car rides Benny is an approximately 7 yr old, loving and playful chi mix who uses a doggie door like a champ. He’s had full dental work done, gets along with other dogs and loves his people.
