On this National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we would like to highlight the participation of some of our students in various Pro Bono Student Canada workshops at Inter-Val 1175 and Native Women's Shelter of Montreal (NWSM). Inter-Val 1175 is a shelter for women and children experiencing with conjugal and/or family violence. Isabelle Baltzan, a first-year student, and Linnea Kornhauser, a second-year student, offer a legal workshop on the custody ...application process to shelter residents. Catherine Dune, first-year student, and Emma Sitland, second-year student, offer a legal workshop on publicizing the process of obtaining permanent residence. NWSM is an emergency shelter for native women and their children. Emma Pritchard, a first-year student, and Sandrine Royer, a second-year student, come to the NWSM once a week to provide legal information to shelter residents. We thank these McGill students for their contributions to our projects that help in the fight to eliminate violence against women that is still all too common today, as we commemorate, 31 years later, the lives lost of 14 young women at the Polytechnique de Montréal.

At PBSC McGill, we get the chance to partner with many amazing community organizations in the Greater Montreal! All of them do some important work for the community and we want to highlight that. As such, as of next week, we are launcing our weekly community partner feature post series! Every Wednesday, we will share a link to an organization we partner with for you all to discover and perhaps contribute to in any way you can. Coming up next week: the Native Women's Shelter of Montreal!
