Lola Caridad and Lola Eufrocina are two lovely seniors who received Salamat box food packages and hygiene kit from Philippine Centre Canada (PCC) thru the support of the Canadian Red Cross and Employment and Social Development Canada. The pandemic has been more challenging because they have limited themselves from short and long trips outside their homes due to their vulnerability of acquiring diseases. They get help from family members who live with them and from loved ones who visits them from time to time for their basic necessities. Both of them find things to do at home to make use of their time. Thank you to our dear PCC volunteer Karen who brought more smiles to Lola Caridad and Lola Eufrocina whose resiliency has been tested through time!

Seniors rock! Philippine Centre Canada (PCC) volunteer Yola delivered Salamat box food packages and hand hygiene kits to frontliners and co-seniors: Catherine, Pearl, Rose, Saberina, Carmelita, Eliza and Rosalyn. Philip is an essential worker who recently had a tragic house fire in his family's residence in an apartment building in Downpatrick, Ottawa. Philip was able to save his 2 kids while unable to run back to get his paralyzed wife out of the burning unit. Luckily, firemen came and was able to rescue his wife who was brought to the hospital and is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ottawa Hospital. While current investigations has been started to find out the cause... of the fire, according to Philip, his children still carries the trauma of the event. They barely saved possessions as most of their belongings were ashed by the fire. Urduja from Philippine Centre Canada brought Salamat box food packages and hand hygiene kit to Philip & his family to help them with their food needs. Ontario link resources information were also provided--which could be of assistance to Philip and his family. Philip showed strength, as he narrates his family's tragic event, "...kakayanin ko ito, para sa pamilya ko." Philip is very thankful to friends and people who he does not even know and helped them survive immediately after the fire incident to present recovery. Philip and his kids are safe and are temporarily staying in another apartment. Thank you to Canadian Red Cross and Employment and Social Development Canada for supporting the Filipino-Canadian community thru PCC-- we are able to respond timely and alleviate the suffering of the more vulnerable. Thank you to PCC volunteer Ronan for referring Philip and his family to our assistance.
