PCFC Daily Bible Reading I Proverbs 18 January 18, 2021 Proverbs 18:24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.... REFLECTION The difference between family and friends are that family are people we are born with and have no choice to be included in, whereas, friends are people whom we choose to be with. In our lives, we will meet many people who will evolve from acquaintances to true and real friends. Finding true and lasting friendships begins with us being true and real friends to others. Take time to be generous others. Take time to prioritize others. Take time to be there when others are down. Take time to encourage others. Take time to defend others. Take time to share the word of God to others. Take time to be a true and real friend to others. Too often we focus on the question, who are my real friends? But really, the first question we need to ask ourselves is, Am I a real friend? Am I that friend who sticks closer than a brother? Proverbs is a book that is meant to change us and allow us to look at ourselves and see how we can be more like Christ. Christ is the epitome of true friendship God who became man to feel the sufferings of humanity, God who cried and wept when His friends died, God who knew the needs of others and healed them, God who died on the cross so that we, His friends will be redeemed. By becoming more Christlike, true friendships will follow. PRAYER Lord, forgive me for the times that I have not been a true friend to others. Jesus, humbly, I pray that You make me more like You in love, in godly obedience and in sacrifice so that I become a true friend to others. ~Omer Dizon

PCFC Bible Reading I Proverbs 17 January 17, 2021 An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions Proverbs 17:24... To achieve your dreams in life, you’ll need to decide what really matters and what will last in your life and focus on that. The Bible says, An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions Proverbs 17:24 God says choose your cup, and He’ll fill it. Whether you have a little teacup, a five-gallon jug, or a 100-gallon barrel of faith, God will fill it up according to your faith. How much you trust God determines how much God blesses you. You exercise faith by setting goals. You set a goal when you say, God, I believe You’re telling me that You want me to accomplish this by a particular date. It’s really going to stretch me to do it, but I believe this is what I need to do. While there is something to be said for having big dreams, this proverbs points out the folly of chasing fantasies having eyes that wander to the ends of the earth. How much better to align your goals with God’s being the kind of person he wants you to be. Developing godly qualities (wisdom, honesty, patience and love) may not seem exciting, but they will affect every area of your life. Take time to think about your dreams and goals, and make sure they cover what is really important. Prayer Father God, I believe that You created me for a special purpose, and that You have a perfect plan for my life. I ask that You fulfill Your purpose for me and help me to do my part by earnestly seeking You daily through prayer and Your word. We all have different things that make us feel better when we’re feeling down. When we’re dealing with feelings of sadness, we can remember that God comforts us...! Another way to help us feel happy if we’re feeling down is to be thankful! Taking time to tell God, Thank You, for all He’s given to us and has done for us is a sure way to help us feel better when we are feeling down!
