Did you know that we need carbohydrates in order to live a healthy life? This macronutrient is found in almost everything we consume and has been given a bad reputation in the health and weight loss world. It is important to know that there are two types of carbohydrates: simple carbs and complex carbs. What is the difference?... Complex carbohydrates contain more nutrients than simple carbs. They are also higher in fiber and digest slower, meaning they are more filling and will sustain you for a longer period of time. Complex carbs are also a great energy source for individuals with type 2 diabetes as they help to regulate blood sugar. Simple carbohydrates are commonly found in processed foods such as white bread, pop, packaged sweets such as cookies and candy, and fruit juice concentrate. Complex carbohydrates are present in foods such as whole grains, bananas, berries, beans and sweet potatoes. #nutritiontips #carbtalk #carbsforlife #macronutrients #healthyliving #healthyfood #healthydiet #healthcare #familycare #foodtalk #familyhealth #familyhealthteam #nutritionist #dietician
