Prince Charles Rink was reopened yesterday morning and will remain open til this afternoon. We will assess the usability and safety early afternoon and make judgement whether to close again based on the temperature. Fingers crossed for another cold snap. We are still working daily to try to keep our season running as long as possible.

With the weather changing, we will be keeping an eye on the rink and closing during daylight hours in order to prevent deep grooves and ruts. Will try to provide updates daily to let our community know of the rink is open or closed to skaters. We appreciate everyone who has enjoyed using it this year and all of the words of encouragement and thanks!

Every night lockdown... skaters. No lockdown... no skaters. What gives? Ice is perfect.

We have a small, but excellent crew of Volunteers that continue to make this possible. Rink is open, skatable and hockey is ok under the Orange Covid framework set by the Province. Please be mindful of where you are parking and always watch for pedestrians.... Just a reminder that social distancing should still be practiced, wear masks when this is not possible, and a maximum of 25 skaters at a time.

Been getting lots of interest in our rink at Prince Charles Park for this year. Just wanted to send an update. With the fluctuations in the weather we have not been able to start the base on the Tennis Court yet. The minute we try to flood it and the sun starts shining it will melt. We would need consistent temperatures below -5 Degrees during the day and even colder at night in order to be able to develop the necessary base.... We do have a tarp that was just donated by some friends and we could try to make a smaller rink. However, maybe too late to try to put the boards on the ground. Looking at the weather forecast, nights are getting colder, but the days are still too warm with the predicted sunshine near the end of the week. Hoping by the weekend we will be able to begin layering some ice. If anyone is interested in volunteering with the ice, or becoming a Neighbourhood Association Member, please reach out by email to [email protected]
