Hello everyone, on October 5th Microsoft will be starting its rollout of Windows 11 for free to people with eligible computers. It is my recommendation to all of my clients, not to take this upgrade if you are offered it as it will do more harm then good to your device. Sometimes older tech and newer operating systems just can't be combined, when they are the result is that the device becomes slower and less responsive. This new operating system is designed with "gamers" in mind and as such requires advanced tech to function properly. In my opinion it is quite bloated. So please be mindful if an offer to upgrade comes your way. Thanks.

Sometimes my work for a client requires me to crack open the computer chassis to locate the problem. In this case the port in which you would plug the charging cable into has stopped working, thus the battery can not be charged and the device cannot be powered on. The port connection will need to be replaced with a compatible part. An easy fix once properly diagnosed.

Did you know it's often cheaper to build a quality Desktop PC then to try and buy one off the shelf? When building your own computer it is important to think of the project as a puzzle or Lego set. Every piece must be compatible with each other. The first step is picking out a motherboard. The motherboard is the central hub of the computer that all other components connect to. Motherboards come in different shapes and sizes. This sizing category is known as the form factor. T...Continue reading

While working out on the job I often get asked a few common questions. Such as what kind of PC do I have, or who do I recommend if they the client where to buy I new computer? These can be pretty tricky questions as every persons needs are different; and the market is not as such I can just say buy a Dell or a Mac and you are all set. The parts inside your computer matter just as much as what is under the hood of your car. For that purpose I thought I would do this little wri...te up about the baseline for what a standard computer should have and what that computer would be capable of doing without issue. So the first thing I want to talk about is your computer's processor. Think of this like the brain of your computer. A good baseline for a CPU (central processing unit) is 2.7 gigahertz . This is the speed that the CPU functions at and you really don't want to be below that number when working on either a Desktop or a Laptop. Many people desire their computer's to run better and faster. Maintenance can sort out issues and solve problems that may be hindering your devices performance. But the capability's of your CPU are always going to be limited by the quality of CPU you originally purchased. Next lets talk about ram (random access memory). If it helps lets consider RAM to be your short term memory. When buying a new computer you may hear this term thrown around a lot. Don't brush it away as it is extremely important to the functioning of your computer. Nowadays anything less then 8 gigabytes of RAM is not recommended on either a Desktop or a Laptop. Even a great CPU can be crippled by a limited supply of RAM. There is plenty more I could say about specific parts of the computer but for now lets talk about what such a computer would be capable of doing swiftly and with ease. Such a device would be capable of doing all of the basics of course, checking email, surfing the web, watching video. It would not be a super gaming computer. But it would far less prone to slow speeds as a result of the hardware. Knowing about what's inside your computer, and how often you should be taking care of it certainly makes for a happy long lasting computer. No matter which company you have bought it from.
