In early March, Health Promoting Schools with the CCRCE secured a grant through Breakfast Club of Canada, it was of high importance to get funding back into our school communities, and into the hands of our Pictou County families! Although COVID resulted in many restrictions being placed on the helping professions, like those of us at SchoolsPlus, there were many service providers in Pictou County that continued their day to day work in caring for our county- like those at th...e Department of Community Services, and the New Glasgow Regional Police. With their continued services during unprecedented times, we were able to get 68 grocery gift cards, with a total value of $3,400 to our Pictou County families. Thanks to all who made this happen! We did it again- Phase 2 complete! With continued collaboration between SchoolsPlus East and West, Summer Street Industries, and the Rotary Clubs in Pictou County, we were able to offer ‘the grocery bag’. This reflected that of a grocery order; filled with pantry items, dairy, and fresh fruit and vegetables. On June 11th, deliveries and pickup occurred, servicing just under 130 families in Pictou County! SchoolsPlus East and West would like to extend a Thank You to our parti...cipating families, Summer Street Industries, the Rotary Clubs in Pictou County, and to the Celtic Family of Schools. When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping Fred Rogers.

A little message from our SchoolsPlus Truro friends

With new policies and procedures due to COVID 19, the wellness of our school community has been weighing on us all- with food security being at the forefront. Our students and families no longer have access to breakfast programs, hot lunches, or Backpack initiatives. So, we have had to get creative to continue to support families. With the help of a donation from a community organization, SchoolsPlus Pictou County East and West, in close partnership with Summer Street Indust...ries, was able offer; pantry items, fresh and frozen prepared meals, dairy products, and fresh fruit to our families. The reach of this project was profound, servicing all 17 schools in Pictou County, where over 140 families received nutritional goods. SchoolsPlus Pictou County would love to extend a Thank You to Summer Street Industries, the Celtic Family of Schools, and to our Pictou County families. When I was a boy and would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping Fred Rogers

Hello lovely followers; please be advised that we have decided to offer our Session 2: Managing Your Child's Behaviour at Walter Duggan on March 23rd (First day after March Break). This is a make up session for our February 10th Session that was cancelled due to weather. Hope to see you there!
