Milestone Achievement Announcement On February 5th, 2021, the City of Fort St John received a Development Permit Application for a 116 Unit Seniors Housing Development. We are pleased to announce that our project development partner VRS Communities’ funding application was submitted to BC Housing and Canada Mortgage and Housing Funding Programs.... We’re one step closer to realizing the Senior’s Housing Project and Active Adult Community, and to building a sustainable, inclusive, affordable housing community in Fort St. John. We acknowledge that it’s needed now more than ever. For the time being, it’s in the hands of our Municipal and Provincial governments, and we trust it will advance to the next level of approval. Hello Fort St John! We know its been a few months since you've last heard from us and many have been messaging the page or asking one of our team members for an update! As you're all aware, 2020 has been a much different year as compared to previous years. ... We've continued to work safely behind the scenes during this time and we are making progress. We like to reaffirm that we do understand how important housing affordability is to the community. We've been working behind the scenes with several levels of government to determine a path forward to ensure a LONG TERM solution for seniors housing affordability in Fort St John. Port Alberni recently announced a large seniors housing project and we wanted to know if you think a project like this would work in Fort St John considering the similarities in the community size. What do you like about what they've proposed and is there anything that you'd add or change?

Members of SONS and the Fort St John Seniors Branch 58 have been invited to a meeting this afternoon at 1:00 pm to discuss Senior's Housing at 10908 100th Street. This meeting will be hosted by Lumina Services and will be an important step in the process to bring desperately needed Affordable Seniors Housing to Fort St John.

Members of SONS and the Fort St. John Seniors Society Branch 58 have been invited to provide their ideas, suggestions, or thoughts concerning Senior Housing projects. Thanks to Chris for helping to organize this. Kate Mancer M.A., Principal Lumina Services has been hired to gather information and looks forward to meeting with our groups. Numbers collected by SONS show that Fort St. John desperately needs more facilities. Bring along your ideas for what you would like to see in an Assisted Living unit, Independent Living Unit (for instance sinks which are not so deep), Care Facilities, Home Care, or any idea that pops into your mind.

Have your say regarding Health Care Priorities that matter to you! The Center for Rural Health Research has posed an online survey is live and is asking those who would be interested to complete a brief survey.

Here's what our Director of Development, Ron Brar had to say about the BC AHSN Conference in Prince George: "It was an honor to be invited to the 2019 BC AHSN Conference in Prince George. I spoke with many Health Care Professionals and Northern Health executives about the Seniors Housing project that we are planning for in Fort St John. ... Everyone that I discussed the project with has provided their complete support as we all share the Peace Holdings vision of providing affordable seniors housing in the BC North Peace Region. Through community and health care professional involvement, the project has come so far in the past 12 months. We are nearing a finalized building plan for the project and will look forward to sharing this with the community in the following months."
