BIG BELLY, BIG NEWS: Officially stepping back from the infant & child sleep world, as we prepare for this next season of life As much as I’ve loved supporting & guiding families down the path towards peaceful sleep, I’ve decided to take an indefinite break & focus on our growing family. I am beyond grateful for the experiences & learning opportunities that each & every client has given me & I have grown into the Mother I am today because of the work I have done & the people I have met along the way. Thank you for your ongoing support over the last 5 years & for believing & trusting in Peaceful Sleepers Consulting to solve your family’s sleep struggles. I’ve learned so much from you all & am excited for what’s next to come

Bedtime, goodbyes, & transitions represent a departure of some kind, & this is why young children struggle with them. We need to grow young children into independent, social & separate beings who can go to sleep, play on their own, attend school, & eventually leave home. What young children need to hear over & over again is that an adult is holding onto them, especially at bedtime, the biggest disconnect of the day. The answer lies not in teaching them how to separate but in making it easy for them to separate. They will let go of us when they feel we are holding on to them (while separated). In other words, if separation is the problem, attachment is the solution. -Dr. Deborah Macnamara @deborahmacnamara
