This fine Wednesday we have a phrase we’d love for you to get used to: Messy Action. Too often we don't start something because we think we have to wait for the perfect conditions or the perfect time. And, no, I'm not just talking about that new initiative at the office or in your business. We do this with things as simple as tidying up the house! How many times have you thought, "Well what's the point? I only have 5 minutes and it won't make much of a difference anyway."... Procrastination is a form of self-sabotage. When we refuse to begin, we don’t even give ourselves a chance at succeeding. So to prevent setting ourselves up for failure, all we have to do is begin. One step. It doesn’t have to be a big step. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be done. What messy action are you taking today?

How many times have you been scrolling social media and thought Wow, she has it all together. She is making millions. She has time to do it all." We see them all the time. The perfect woman, with the perfect hair, making the perfect lunches for her kids and talking about her perfect day at work closing the perfect client. It’s natural to feel a pang of jealousy when we see these women. But what if we could feel empowered instead of jealous? What if instead of wishing we had... what she has, we worked for it? What if instead of saying that must be nice we said that’s POSSIBLE for me too! It IS possible. That CAN be you. It may ALREADY be you and you don’t even know it. The thing to remember is that the perfect photos you see on social media strategically omit the chaotic morning routine, the kids arguing in the back seat and the dinner that burned in the oven. However, these women don’t let those moments derail their day. They know that their crappy morning doesn’t mean the rest of the day can’t turn around. They know that the kids arguing doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. They know that the burned dinner means they have food in the fridge and a roof over their head. Find those moments of perfection in your own day, and pat yourself on the back. Every moment of the day is jam packed. Is everyone awake? Make sure teeth are brushed, hair looks presentable and clothes are on whether or not they’re clean may be another story. Try to get lunches packed and a healthy breakfast consumed. Drop the kids off, attend meetings all day, then it’s time for school pickup, soccer practice and dance class. Should probably stop for gas on the way. Oh we can’t forget to walk the dog. Did I place that grocery order or should I stop on ...my way home? Gotta check email and respond to clients after dinner. Oh yeah, actually make dinner. Did the kids do their homework? Repeat indefinitely. The idea of cramming me time in there? It probably seems laughable. When is there possibly time for that? Guess what there isn’t!! By the end of the day, we can’t relax because we feel there is still work to be done. We can never quite reach the bottom of the pile of paperwork. The living room could always be a little more tidied. The fridge could be a little more organized. No matter what, there’s always something more that we feel we should be doing. Is there an end to this cycle? Or is this just how it is? NO. Say it with me: It does NOT have to be like this. At the end of the day, do your best to turn it off. Find ways to disconnect and focus on you. The tidying can wait and your emails will still be there tomorrow. Put your phone on ‘do not disturb’ or better yet, turn it off completely! Turn the bright, stimulating lights off and opt for soft lighting to help your mind unwind. Change into cozy clothing and do something delicious for yourself - read a book, take a bath, have a cup of tea, snuggle your hunny. My healthy lifestyle journey wasn't perfect. Is anyone’s? It took determination, dedication, and most importantly, desire. It has to start with desire. A desire to truly live life, instead of just going through the motions. ... A desire to look at food and get excited about how it will make you feel. A desire to say no to the guilt of consuming empty calories. A desire to see exercise as something fun and invigorating instead of a chore. A desire to wake up every morning happy and ready to start the day and take on the world. You know deep down there is a need for you in your life to make these changes. But there has to be a want. When you make that simple shift from "I NEED to do this" to "I WANT to do this'' it automatically becomes easier because you're ready. Once you acknowledge this desire, you’re no longer fighting against yourself every step of the way.
