Let’s take something as simple as a basic core crunch. Seems simple enough right? Fairly straight forward ya? Now let’s say you’ve been doing this crunch for years. Maybe even decades all along you’ve been pushing out on your pelvic floor, holding your breath, or craning your neck by staring up at the ceiling the whole time??? Now do this over and over and over again you can likely imagine the repeated strain this is putting on your neck, back and pelvic floor area. So..., make sure you’re always focusing on form, posture and control. Do it right. Repeat. I recently did a postural assessment on a new client and here she is with a chronic sore lower back. The culprit ? Pushing out on the pelvic floor repeatedly and lifting her lower back off the mat when she picks up her feet during core flexion.
