This pose will get a little uncomfortable in a short time. People complain of neck strain, sore ankles and knees after a while. Scroll down below to see how I adjusted her.

Supported child’s pose after adjustment. Her back is a straighter line after I built up the bolster higher with blankets. Blocks or books can also be used. The tops of her feet have a travel pillow underneath to prevent getting sore ankles from flexion, and there is support behind the knees for more comfort.

Try is is a pose we do most every class. People struggle with it because A) The low back gets uncomfortable after a while because the bolster might be too thick. b) The tailbone isn’t close enough to the bolster.. Scroll down for a video on how to adjust.

EXTRA CLASS THIS WEEK! Besides my regular Yin-Restorative class tonight, I have added a Yoga Nidra at 3pm on New Year’s Eve and another Yoga Nidra at 3pm on New Year’s Day. A perfect time to set a new intention, with time afterward to focus on a delicious dinner with your family.

OK Here’s where the doula in me and the mother in me connect with the la-la yogi in me. One thing, actually ,the only thing I missed by having a c-section is that I didn’t get to see the cords and placentas either time. I am fascinated by the placenta as an organ that grows inside us and then detaches from us. That’s the coolest thing!! I also thing its such a beautiful thing. And so of course I’m scrolling around Pinterest at pictures of placentas, as you do, and I come across all these things people do with their placentas after birth, and some gorgeous art, as well as how the placenta, tree of life, and lungs all look so much alike. All life, all breath. Tell me thats not cool?

This week I’m putting up an extra zoom class on Sunday night. Don’t let the holidays catch you by surprise again this year. It’s been a tough year, resolve for a healthy and relaxing Christmas season. The best start to that is a soothing Yoga Nidra Thursday and a calming healing Restorative Yoga class on Sunday night. Favourite thing #1 Celestial seasonings Bengal Spice tea. This is the go-to tea in the wintertime in our house. The trick is to leave the bag in, let it steep for as long as you can stand it. Don’t add anything to it, the spices in the tea make it seem like it has been sweetened. Every person I’ve made this tea for has fallen in love with it. This is the tea that’s is always in the carafe at De La Sol.

I have had many sankalpas over the years that have come to fruition. I’ve manifested trips away after 10 years of not boarding a plane. I’ve manifested a job surrounded by books and bookish people I’ve manifested a healthy lifestyle, pain free with weight loss and I recently lost 25 lbs. ... First of all why do Sankalpa work? It’s not magic. Believe me, I didn’t ONLY do yoga nidra to make these intentions reality, but it sure helped, and I believe I would still be waiting for enough money to board a plane if it didn’t. Because our thoughts become our destiny. Words become actions, Actions become habits, Habits create your reality. With deep relaxation in Yoga Nidra, our subconscious is awake and alert to instructions. AND!!!! Remember that asking the universe for money is ok! Asking for abundance in any form IS VALID!!! If we want to do good in the world, be helpful, and have enough to share, we need to have enough for ourselves as well. For some people, strict religious upbringing can hold them back from feeling comfortable about wanting money. Rev. Catherine Ponder points out in her lectures that nowhere in the bible does it say we shouldn’t want money. Nowhere does it say if we want to be a good person we should be poor or poverty stricken. Ask yourself, what is your greatest fear when it comes to money? Write it all down, everything you can think of. Then rewrite the narrative. Look at what you’ve written and write statements that are the exact and total opposite of what you fear. Maybe what you wrote on that second list will be created into your sankalpa. Abundance can come in many forms. From rich, full vegetable gardens, to knee slapping laughs around the dinner table with your family, to a six figure number in a bank account. It’s all the same. No one was offering the kind of practice that would help her changing body prepare for the marathon of pregnancy, while helping to ease her busy mind that was often feeling stressed about the rollercoaster of changes going on in her life. Fast forward to today, Kerry has guided thousands of prenatal students on their mats, through their pregnancies, offered support and preparation for labour, all while keeping the student-specific needs in mind each class.
