French IB students are writing the last exam in this year's exam season. Good luck to all of them and congratulations to all our students for making it through the exam period! Quick question to our alumni, could you still do it? #IBexam #test #thisisatest
Congratulations to Shauna Aminath (YR 29/2004, Maldives) for her appointment as her country’s Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology. Shauna urges individuals and governments alike to step up their efforts in combating climate change. We need every single person in the world to address climate change at a personal level, and at a political level by governments, said Shauna. But more than that, the country wants to become a leader in mitigation efforts, lik...e reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We want to lead in the effort and to say that if the Maldives can do it, then the entire world can do it as well. Ambitious targets are urgently needed to help not just the Maldives but all small island states," she stated. https://www.cnbc.com//maldives-calls-for-urgent-action-on-

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Rise, a programme launched by Schmidt Futures, alongside the Rhodes Trust. The UWC-Rise partnership will invo...lve the launch of a foundational education programme at a refugee camp in Kenya as well as the provision of full scholarships for young people with a refugee background to study at one of our 18 UWC schools across the globe. Simultaneously, through their global talent program, Rise will provide opportunity and support to young people aged 15-17 from any country, with any background, who are dedicated to building a better world. At a time when #education opportunities for refugees have been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, #UWC continues to embrace its mission of making education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. #RiseForTheWorld #SaveOurFuture #WithRefugees See more
Interesting article in The Guardian about how resilience became the quality we all crave. Worthwhile read. Trigger warning about domestic violence at the beginning of the post, though. http://ow.ly/Z25R50CtID4
Shout out to our friends at Eagle Wing Tours for taking our students out on Marine Life trips over the last two weekends, with one more trip to come. You rock!
Each year the econ students are asked to create a product -- created by them out of a popsicle -- that they should be able to sell in real life on campus. Due to covid19 this year, they will face extra challenges to sell their creative ideas. This project allows students to experience and learn about real life non-perfect competitive markets, marketing strategies and the creative destruction concepts. We are excited to see what they will come up with this year. These photos are from a few years back.

Indigenous games on indigenous day. For this workshop, students learned how to play some indigenous games including one-armed reach, high kick, leg wrestling and arm pull. Shea gives us an insight to what it was like experiencing the games first hand. Filmed and edited by @lachlan.ness

As part of the Indigenous Special Topics Day this past Wednesday, the campus community started the day with a "Feeding the Water" ceremony.
