PEC Soccer Association 28.06.2021

PECSA Community, The PECSA Executive is hard at work preparing for the upcoming summer soccer season amid the current pandemic situation. We are looking for feedback from the community to see if there is interest in participating in the upcoming season. ... Due to the ongoing pandemic, there are a number of procedures that will need to be followed so that soccer is as safe as possible for all involved. Some of PECSA's Return To Play procedures will include: * Limiting the number of attendees at the field one parent/guardian will be able to attend with each player * Designated Field Marshalls will maintain a Contact Tracing Log with names and contact information for all attendees * All attendees will need to complete a Health Assessment before coming to the field * Staggering the start times of games to limit the number of people coming and going at once * Requesting that players come to the field no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of their game * Requesting that parents/guardians/players exit the field in a timely manner after their game has ended * Creating "Competitive Bubbles" of no more than 50 players. For example, bubbles would contain no more than 3-4 teams in each age division. For age divisions with more than 4 teams, a second bubble would be created. Teams would only play other teams within their bubble during the season. Players would not be permitted to "play up" on another team during the season * Spectators and players who are not on the field would be required to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet. Note: players on the field would not be required to physically distance In order to run a successful season, we are in need of 5-6 volunteers per night - over 200 volunteers for the whole season - to assist us and act as Field Marshalls. Without a substancial number of volunteers, we will be unable to run the season in a safe manner. We are also looking for your feedback on whether or not you or your child plan to sign up for soccer this summer. Please help us by completing a short survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QGNZ6CG The survey will be open until 10PM on Friday, March 5, 2021

We have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 PECSA Houseleague Season. The health and safety of the players and all those involved is our number one priority. There were a variety of factors that contributed to this decision. Ontario Soccer has yet to determine a Return to Play date and the County has closed all recreational facilities until at least the end of July. Refunds for registration will be issued in the coming days. Please be patient with us as we work through this process. If you have any questions, please reach out by email at [email protected]. Thank you & stay safe!

As we enter the first few days of spring and find the majority of families in Canada now housebound, there has never been a more important time to enjoy the full benefits of spending time outdoors. Come Alive Outside has developed a nature-focused program to help children and adults continue to spend time outdoors, while social distancing during the extended school break and Covid-19 pause. The Come Alive Outside 5x5 Challenge encourages participants to engage in five healthy... outdoor activities a week for five weeks and share pictures of their adventures along the way. Visit https://comealiveoutside.com/5x5/ to sign up, get your tracker and explore some creative ways to have fun! Please feel free to share this with your network and anyone you feel may enjoy this program. Stay well!

PECSA families, The Executive would like you to know that we are continuing with our planning preparation for the outdoor season for 2020. We do not currently know when the season will start but are looking at contingencies such as delaying the start or shortening the season. We would like to encourage you to continue to sign up because once we are allowed to start our season we will only have a short time to form teams and get games going. Those wishing to apply for Jump Sta...rt should email [email protected] for assistance. Should the season be shortened or cancelled completely PECSA will provide either a rebate or complete refund based on the situation. We must cancel our in-person registration originally scheduled for 28 March and will waive the late fee for registration. As a member club of Soccer Ontario and Canada Soccer we have to abide by the decisions of the governing bodies. We will strive to provide you any updates when we receive them. We encourage you to check our Facebook page and website (www.pecsa.ca) regularly for updates. Hopefully the mitigation measures slow the spread of COVID-19 and life can get back to normal soon. Thank you for your understanding and support. PECSA Executive

A message from SOSA: Ontario Soccer suspends indefinitely all sanctioned soccer activities in the province due to the COVID-19 pandemic Ontario Soccer, in consultation with Canada Soccer, have been monitoring the most recent developments with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the emerging public health crisis.... Following discussions with the national governing body, input from relevant government agencies and medical experts, Ontario Soccer has made the difficult decision to immediately suspend all sanctioned soccer activities in the province until further notice. Ontario Soccer sanctioned activities include, but not limited to, all competitions, training, coach and match official education and team building activities. To ensure the health and safety of our players, coaches, match officials and administrators, Ontario Soccer recommends that all Districts, Clubs and Academies communicate to their members that they will cease operations indefinitely. The offices of Ontario Soccer will be closed to the public during this period but staff will be available through email or phone to assist where necessary. The Ontario Soccer Centre will be closed to the public until further notice. Ontario Soccer will continue following the guidelines set forth by the public health authorities, government agencies and soccer governing bodies. Updates will be issued as appropriate and will include further details as warranted. Marguerite Heer, SOSA
